i am presently looking at a h2 sut as a toad. i read your thread. it helps a lot. any other comments that would help me decide. i have a 05 travel supreme, 500hp. i have been trailering a denali yukonxl. i do a lot of hunting and want to be able to keep the dogs in the back, not inside due to smell is the reason for sut. tired of a trailering. do you do any off roading with it?

It pretty much shows in the pics above what you need for Frog towing, (Four Rolling On Ground).
If you go with RoadMaster, (or other Mfg.) you will need the BlackHawk Tow Bar, the Bracket Kit, A proportional, (for Air) Brake System, and Brake-Away System. The accessory kit containing Drag cables, a wiring kit & harness. Plus the cable extensions.

I have several scratches, and enough paint chips in the front to warrant a paint job with Line=X! And Might!

As far as the H2, it's just a personal choice! 30 or so years of--Run of the mill--4X4's, I got My Something Different! It's One of the best rig I've owned.

Measure your cages and see if they fit in the sut. If they fit, see if there's a canopy option! If your thinking the dog cages can be a bit smaller, you've made up your mind!

John, I'm about to get the roadmaster set up for my 2004 H2.
A couple of questions
1. What do you have for a brake set up?
2. Having never towed a car (just a 24'trialer) how are the brake lights, turn indicators activated on the H2...? Do you need to leave the key on?

Not john, but can answer you Questions. My H2 was the prototype for RoadMaster, and the first H2 towed.
1.) you need the BrakeMaster-for AIR Or HYD.
2.) You need the BrakeAway unit-see page one
3.) Get the RoadMaster wiring kit and have it installed by a pro.
4.) Read the Manual for towing proceedures--No you don't leave the key on.

I am setting up my 06 H2 with a blue ox and will be installing the warn winch bumper. I don't think the standard base plate will work. How did you connect to the tow hooks? do you have pictures of the connection?

Big Z 08-21-2005 06:34 PM

You might consider the RoadMaster set-up. Not only are they stronger, their not failing like the Ox! The nut holding them together, is backing off--Three units were sent back from a local shop for the problem this last week! Scary ****! Oh!, by the way, you Can't connect to the tow hooks!

Thanks for the heads up. I was trying to find a solution that would allow me to retain the tow hooks. What model of the roadmaster is best for the H2. I will be towing with a 42 Monaco Signature with a Cummins ISX-600 engine

Big Z 08-21-2005 09:24 PM

If you get the kit that I mentioned on page one, there MUCH stronger than the tow hooks!(that you replace). You will need All the stuff listed below;

1.) BlackHawk Tow-bar
2.) 8" offset--for hitch)
3.) BrakeMaster for Air Brakes
4.) seat bracket, for BrakeMaster
5.) Brake-A-way system--see page 1 for pic
6.) Drag chain extenders
7.) braking indicator for dash--Coach
8.) wiring kit--for H2

I've been running the set-up for three years now.

Big Z
thanks for the info. I went to Roadmaster site and got all the info and part numbers. I will have the install done in Eugene when I pick up the Monaco.
