Re: H2 Fender Flares
If they are too glossy or shiny looking I'm just gonna go ahead and spray them with Rustoleum bedliner. Same stuff I used on all the chrome pieces on my H2. It's only 9$ a can and it works really good. Touch ups are a just a quick spray and it's been holding up really well since i did everything last summer.

Its pretty similar...I have so much material on that stock center piece from wetsanding right now, can't give you a 100% answer. I need to clean it up and possibly try some of that rubber/bumper restorer. If that doesn't work, I'm just going to shoot everythign black. |

Re: H2 Fender Flares
im thinking about getting some of these fender flares....but i dont want to putthe rear mud flap on. i think it looks better with it off. i have a pretty big issue with mud, dirt, water...everything, getting flung up on my hood and doors now with these tires.

What about the Street Scene flares? http://www.amazon.com/Street-Scene-F.../dp/B000JQ66VW |
Re: H2 Fender Flares
i like those too. ive seen these too.http://www.ebay.com/itm/200537593085... 4.m1423.l2648 kinda like the street scenes.
when i think about it, my backspacing on the wheels is 1" less than the stock wheels. so if i were to get a flare with 1" more...you figure it would cover the wheel enough to make it normal again ....right? so the 3.5" flares of the E&G are a bit much, but the street scenes may be just enough to give me what i need without looking too aggressive. |
Re: H2 Fender Flares
Check out charles06's pics in this thread...
http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...d=1#post543525 ...he's got the E&G flares installed without the mud flaps. Not a bad look...better than having the flaps in my opinion. |

Re: H2 Fender Flares
heres pictures i just took. now keep in mind, we havent had any rain since tuesday...and i havent been off roading.
![]() ![]() ![]() its not as muddy on the hood, but everything that is on there is flung up from the tires.....so any water or dirt. |
Re: H2 Fender Flares
I'm the same way, that's why I plan on getting the E&G. I know it won't fix it but it should certainly make it better.

Re: H2 Fender Flares
i hope so. i tell my wife this thing is a filthy pig all the time.

For a minute I thought you had posted pics of my truck...LOL! That's pretty much how mine looks 24/7. He gets a bath once every two months in the summer and once a month in the winter...in between those, we just roll dirty. Honestly, I don't think you'll fair much better even with the larger flares. The tires are big, they've got aggressive tread, and the wheel-wells are too exposed...the tire's gonna throw it up and the wind is going to paint it down the side of your rig regardless. Fender skirts might do the trick?! :) ![]() |
Re: H2 Fender Flares
you dont think an extra 2.5" sticking out is going to keep it from going all over my door? or hood? im not trying to stop it all....just the worste of it.
|
Re: H2 Fender Flares
I always thought it was funny as hell in the winter time, sitting at a stop light w some cars in front of me. Blipping the throttle real quick would throw slush and snow up and over the cars in front of me.
|
Re: H2 Fender Flares
i dont mind throwing snow and mud up at other people. i just want to keep it off of me. lol

Check out the illustration I did with accely's ride... The larger flares will definitely help the green section but the flare would still be missing all the crap that gets thrown under it toward the rest of the truck (depicted in brown...'cause dirt is usually brown :) ). And your 'brown' area will be much larger because your truck sits up higher, thus altering the angle that separates the two regions. ...look at me all scientific and sh!t with diagrams; can't beat that! Plus, I'm bored. ![]() |
Re: H2 Fender Flares
You have a good point there with that nice illustration. So if I'm gonna get flares, don't expect them to stop everything. So that makes me consider the street scene flares more then. I like how they look stock but their a lot cheaper than the e&g and only .5" thiner than the e&g

Re: H2 Fender Flares
I have the older fabtech lift which pushes my wheels out an extra 3", which adds to the problem. I agree with Guru and his diagram except for one thing. The diagram is perfect if you're sitting still spinning in a mud hole, but if you're moving there will be wind pushing the green area back/down further. Anyway I know it's not going to solve the problem but I think flares will help. I guess I'll find out once I put them on.
