I need a definitive answer, not just a guess, as this is very important.

The answer to this question will undoubtedly help thousands of other H2 owners to avoid butchering of their H2 by GM.

Help Please!

The concern I have is that if I decline to have the recall done and for some reason later I do have a fire, as soon as I file a claim with my insurance carrier, the subrogation department is going to ask if I had been notified of the recall. I am concerned that if I do not allow the system to be yanked, I am not "mitigating" my potential for loss and can face a denial of my claim at a future date.

Re: Hummer Recall

Yup, it is a risk.

These vehicles may never reach collector-car status, but they will be more sought-after now that they are done. We plan to keep ours indefinitely, unless H2 pops up again under a different manufacturer (i.e. Hummer is sold).

As this appears unlikely, it would be a shame to butcher the vehicle, especially removing a rarer option (many H2s do not have this option as far as I can tell).

Maybe in a year, someone will find a fix, and the people who allowed the heated WW-ectomy on their rigs will be sorry....

Sure would like to confirm the # of H2 WITH the heated WW system. That would tell us that the risk is 5 vehicles (GM statistic) out of XXX total vehicles with the system, whcih have had this fault. Anyone know where to get this info.

The statistic will be higher than I previously posted at 5/1/5 million, but even so, I bet the probability of a problem will still be close to getting struck by lightning. ...

I'm torn too. But I'm leaning towards keeping mine in place.

Makes you wonder why GM would not use that one or similar to retrofit the H2. Seems like a very simple system.

That's the very same one that i've installed on my H2. Works great on the winter and also in the summer by removing dead bugs on the windshield :D .
