I have the Soundgate adaptor connecting a Pioneer box directly into my nav system. I have had no trouble. As Klaus points out the display characters are limited but it's no big deal as I have my map on 99% of the time. Major gripe would be I can't jump categories so I've pre set stations strategically throughtout the band so I can jump to somewhere close I want to be. I have a friend with GM's XM built into his Chevy truck and he has the same problem.

Hi- i have a soundgate adaptor hooked up to a pioneer xm tuner box, and everything works fine except, i can't change catogories and not able to preset stations on xm2 band. does anyone have the same problem? please help. |
I have it built in to my 05 H2 and love it. Just added Opie and Anthony. If you are buying a unit though a consideration is Sirius. While they have a smaller subscription base (1 million versus 3 million for XM) they got the NFL and Howard Stern (coming next year). XM has MLB though. Both will be vying for content and the battle has begun. Most of my firneds have XM here but 1 has Sirius in his M3 Convertable and seems to like it. Stern was the reason he went to the doggie company.

Go with XM. Sirius will be dead within 2 years. Over paying Stern was a HUGE mistake. They are grossly over-estimating the number of people that will pay to follow him just so they can listen to 4 hours of him saying ****. That and the fact that all he does anymore is whine and cry about being unfairly persecuted and his ignorant political rants of the last 18 months really alienated a lot of loyal fans- myself included. Also, his show pretty much blows anymore. Once he got divorced he started to become exactly the kind of douchebag that he had always made fun of when it was someone else.
There was once a day when if it was possible to listen to his show I'd listen or tape it to listen to later. Now if he even starts to whine or bash President Bush I turn him off for the rest of the day and I might not listen to him again for a week. I know a couple of people that HAD Sirius and they dropped it to buy XM set ups. |
Stern has slid a bit, but that may be intentional. He may be undermining broadcast in an effort to boost satellite. Also, Mel Karmazan (sp?) is a pretty bright guy and their play for the NFL was a positive for Sirius as well. I would think that XM will win the battle in the long run, but 2 years seems a bit optimistic.

Stern definitely has been acting up more than usual lately. I think he's trying to get fired so that Viacom would have to pay his guaranteed contract and he could start on Sirius right away. I expect to see him really act like a **** this year so he can get fired and generate some kind of controversy that he thinks will bring some attention to his move.
Paying Stern $500 million over five years is ridiculous. Sirius is bleeding money right now. I have my suspicions that they might not even make it until Stern is supposed to jump in Jan '06. I'd laugh my ass off. IMO, he should have moved to satellite 2 years ago before everybody else. |
It came in my 05 and I love it. It sounds so good I do not listen to CD's much anymore. It is like having plasma TV versus regular broadcast. It diffently sounds better than Cd's so You can imagine how much better it sounds than regular FM. I probably will keep XM and drop onstar full ser. and keep basic onstar since I do not use it enough.
|
OnStar's Directions & Connections is the best. I use it instead of directory assistance. No more 411 charges. Plus it's pretty handy when I'm trying to find the closest Safeway or something.
|
I do not know if I will keep the On-Star once the free year is out. I have not used it for ANYTHING yet. The touch screen NAV on the '05 is a bit dated, but we have SOOO much construction here, it is hard to keep up with it, and I live here. Seems like the DVD on the '05 was created in '03 which does not sound like a big deal but with the growth in NW Arkansas, it is not current. The built in phone is nice, but the prices per minute are a bit high. They should be more competitive to get people to migrate to it. Either way, I will sitck with XM and put an iPOD in in a few weeks.

With phone minutes that came with H2 and then they kept calling with more deals. I finally ended up with 300 minutes for $30 with a year to use them in. I hope when they start to get low they will start calling again.

Did the call you in the H2 or at another number? I have less than 10 minutes left...

Joseph
They called Me on My cell # and another time at My home #. They started calling after I made a purchase without them calling. I decided that i would go ahead and buy just a low level plan and next thing after that purchase they started callig me offering me more add on deals. I just figured they did everyone that way. You may call them and just tell them You do not use it enough and if they had a decent program for low use customers they may work something out. My minutes are good till 8/05 but that is what i will do if they do not call me. Rick |
I just purchased the XM my/fi. I installed the cradle just under and between the center vents. Works fine. XM is the way to go if you like music and comedy. Sirius seems to focus more on talk shows. My/Fi is great cause you can use it anywhere, even out in the woods deer hunting.
