Corsa's website is a bit weak on information and I'm curious about the off-road version. It almost sounds like the off-road version does come with tips that can easily be removed when off-roading. Anyone have insight to this? I'd be game to purchase a set if Corsa comes onboard as a sponsor and offers a special price.

Grim_Smoker 07-11-2003 01:14 AM

I had emailed Corsa about this before ordering my exhaust, in the email they told me the off-road version is just the exhaust system that stays tucked up inside without tips coming out the back, but you can put tips on them if you wish to. I'll just take my tip off if I go off-road.

I went with XtremeFlow. Their explanation about getting good low and mid-range rpm power made sense to me. I'm not driving around at redline very much. It's also the only one designed specifically for the H2, and not a truck muffler. The two-stage design looks cool and seems to work. Sound is mellow, but mean. I'm diggin' it. Did the air intake at the same time. They have a kit price for both. I'd do it again.

Actually, for Chux and anyone else who is confused all of CORSA's exhaust systems are cutomed tuned for vehicle specificity...so the CORSA H2 system is customized for the H2, not a universal truck muffler.

It is the only one that is custom built for the H2 and the only GM licensed H2 exhaust.

They also offer two sound options:
Touring - mellow and distinctive
Sport - Aggressive and powerful

This way everyone is happy and you can get the sound that you want.

As for the off road stuff - there is a system that just comes with a turndown exit for the all-time off roader. Then there are two other tip options (Pro-Series and Hydroformed Wide Mouth) that come with a free changeabl off road tip - this way you can take off your shiny stainless tip and put on the off-road exit when you are crawling.

Playtime is right - Corsa's H2 system is the real deal. See Photo attached for the Off-Road system. More power, great sound, no drone. Why would you spend $55K for a H2 and then put a crappy exhaust system on it? Yeah the Corsa system runs $700 retail, but it is an Official GM authorized product and well worth the investment.

They have other systems with Stainless tips that can come off when off-roading if you want more show.

Anybody care to share the approximate cost of the Corsa system...installed?

Joe - The "Off-Road" version does not come with tips, it has a turn-down pipe that is hidden under the vehicle. See the attached -

add approximately 250 for labor if you have it dealer installed...

I'd recommend going with the off-road system rather than with free off-road tip if you plan on doing more than easy rated trails. Pretty significant change in clearance.

Alot of truck owners simply remove their factory mufflers and run nothing but straight pipes from the cat back to the tail pipe.
Why( other than very loud) could'nt we do that with our H2?

Albie 07-23-2003 02:10 AM

So at the dealer installed we are talking about a G.

$250.00 to install a cat-back!!!

Holy crap!!!

WAY TOO MUCH GUYS...it's just a bolt on cat-back w/ no welding...do it yourself.

PlayTime,

The Xtremeflow system was designed for the H2 directly. The Xtremeflow H2 was purchased just to make the system. They didn't pull a packed muffler with a staight threw design off the shelf that is used on other applications. They also figured out you don't need to change your tail pipe because there is already a 3" mandrel bent pipe on the H2. So why pay for a new one or two. It is a stainles steel, hand built and tuned for the H2. It also has a nice aggressive sound.

BadRap, My reply on the exhaust and system I have.

I have been following this about exhaust and it sounds like the Xtremeflow is the way to go. Has anyone talked to them about a group buy or anything like that? I have looked at their web site and they offer a few good packages.

wch3 08-06-2003 08:46 PM

I'm a new H2 owner and love the rig. I have exhaust questions and a sway bar so excuse the lapse here.

1) what's the warranty impact on adding new exhaust and CAI mod to the engine?
2) Does using a flash programming device void the warranty?
3) what's the verdict of borla vs. corsa vs. xtreme?

Heard xtreme will be offering its Power Flash, exhaust, and CAI package for 1200 including shipping beginning 8/8.

4) the big question: who really knows how much HP is added by the mods. Xtreme is claiming that by adding all three mods, you can gain 70 hp and about 2.5 mpg. True or not??

Any seasoned advice is greatly appreciated.

Of course, if I would be wasting my money on modifying, please let me know!

wch3 08-06-2003 08:48 PM

Oh yeah, the swary bar question. I heard there were some better bars one could add that would lessen the body role. I find the handling pretty good for such a large and heavy vehicle. Just curious to know if anyone has upgraded his sway bars and the outcome.

Thanks again for helping a novice owner!

I ordered a set of Gibson stainless steel headers and a Corsa off-road touring system. I am going to install all of it myself. I will let you all know how it turns out.

BADRAP 08-10-2003 01:31 AM

Well after debating I think that I will go with either all JBA stuff or Edelbrock stuff.. So I will let you all know when I get the new H2..
