I'm not trying to change your plans or anything, that's why I said I'd pass on this trip...

Hells is very cool and worth doing again but I would like to try other trails the next time I get there. Some on my list are:

Behind the Rocks
Moab Rim
Flat Iron Mesa
Porcupine Rim
Rose Garden Hill
Top of the World
Mineral Point (scenic easy trail)
Cliff Hanger

and I want to hike Pritchett to check that out.

Cool C-man, I'll check those out. But I'm pretty sure I was told behind the rocks and Moab rim were rock buggy only.

Thanks Alec, I'll check out La Sal too.

There's quite a few pics out there with Jeeps on BTR...Is your rig not as capable as a Jeep? :)

:D

I think the main obstacles are High Dive and White Knuckle Hill, both are traveling down hill. You can read about it here and see some pics:

http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=97

The whole trail is difficult but I want to try it.

Alec - Wanna run BTR on that Saturday?

Re: MOAB 8/11-8/18 NON NCHG

if i was able to make it down to try the rubi in late july, is there any chance i could leave my truck somewhere, fly home (to MN) & fly back to get the truck & hit moab in august?

is there reason to believe that something as big as the H2 is certain to be mutilated on the rubi? I'm not above taking damage, but certain destruction is something to consider. :)

I'm about an hour from the con, and 30 min. from Sac International. Can you live without your rig for that long???

Re: MOAB 8/11-8/18 NON NCHG

well... could i live with 44 hours of highway driving (the alternative?)

:D

Re: MOAB 8/11-8/18 NON NCHG

no, thanks for considering my question, humbeebs.

i've been meaning to try the rubi, as you only live once & WTH & so forth. But i didn't realize a gruop of hummers were going until earlier this morning... realistically, it'll be tough to get there for the Rubi trip, but i hope to hit Moab.

that sounds ominous. :p

i looked at a site that alec linked to about behind the rocks, it looked pretty hummerish, i think that trail would be a good one to include.

The moab trails are well-described on the web, but i'm having trouble finding as much on the rubicon. Wheeling challenges are good, but spaces simply too tight aren't always fun. The closest i've come to major damage while wheeling was on a dirt road you could have ridden a tricycle across with ease... just very, very close to big rocks on each side in the H2. so it was at once boring and aggravating. :o

For those of you who've been to these get-together thingies, how do they usually work? everybody goes their way and has at whatever, or everybody drives in a line?

NEOCON1 07-11-2006 03:36 AM

Re: MOAB 8/11-8/18 NON NCHG

we drive in a line most of the time . we also break up into groups , usually 2 groups . one group is more hardcore and willing to break stuff :p and the other is a little more mellow :D i wheeled with both last time depending on trail difficulty . there is something for every skill level in moab  and the scenery is beautiful :D

Re: MOAB 8/11-8/18 NON NCHG

one thing that i wonder about is what in the frick ratings like "9" on a hardness scale... then they say "four wheel drive is recommended". lol

i ran a couple of "black" trails at an OHV park w/o issue, and i almost lost my mind trying to run a "green" trail. wasn't hard (the green trail) just wildly narrow. lots of 10 point turns and hanging out the windows

i guess i'll just have to see.

also, are jeeps welcome?

sweet, i never thought of amazon. i ordered this one as well

what's the word on bringing a jeep? i'm sure its cool with everybody, but i wonder if whoever is spotting would get in a hummer rut & the short wheelbsae would run into trouble... ?
