At first I didn't see it, but now after seeing the video again, I must say, "ouch", having that happen in a remote area would be terrible!

How would you get out of that mess?

Did anyone see the clip of the Jeep rolling back down the rock??? If you go to this guy's google link and look at the other video clips on the right side of the page, it's there.

your brother in law saw this and still told you the h3 was not good. what is he the janitor? there are alot of positions at GM that require little to no qualifications in any area, I am sure he fills one of these. but thats ok, when I buy a new suit I ask the 7-11 clerk for his input.:crying:

Wasn't that 'ROCK' Hells Gate you guys? Been there done that with Neo last April. Good thing he showed that to me after the fact. I believe the rest of our lil group (sewie, the bullies, humbebe(big dave), etc.) went right on up that no prob last time we were there in August. Funny, 2 trips to Moab and I didn't see one FJ anyplace except the street. Lots of jeeps in April, not so many last time, pretty much out there on the rocks by ourselves.

Hey Neo, leaving work at 3:30, no bosses right now, no bosses for a while now, so I've been computing on the forums today. lol Just a bit while I'm scanning a bunch of pics. It's funny, about 2 hours ago, he got about halfway through a conversation of what we need to get done in Oct and Nov, well, what I needed to get done on different cases that are going to court...... till he realized I won't be here. Boy did his face change. See ya in about 30 baby!

Dude or chick (OP)

Does mommy and daddy know your on their computer?

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I always dreamed of owning a Hummer. You know the feeling don't you? Your feeling it right now.

So now that I am a proud Hummer owner, and you still are not, and maybe never will, you wanna come post dribbel to our Hummer family about whatever?

Anyway, my point being that your in no position to make this purchase and you do not have a family member working for GM. I know you want us to believe you, but I can always smell a fart in a wind storm, and you just cut one, thank goodness my mouth was shut. :OWNED:

Trucks break down when off roading, its the beast that we all face as off road drivers. Sometimes we as drivers or our spotters take on a little extra too much that the truck can't handle. There just mechanical parts....

Second, that's not an H3 in the video. :twak: And that video's been around more than your mom.

Third, if you're gonna be a troll at least have the balls to spew your idiocy as yourself. Don't try to hide behind a "brother in law."

You would get out of that mess by having Adam with you and being real nice to him :beerchug: :beerchug: and you better have a spare tie rod in the truck

I think if that happened to me I would be real nice to whoever was with me and had the experience to assist in repairing it! And I wouldn't just sit and supervise either...I don't mind getting my hands dirty or greasey at all! I do all my repairs on my truck as it is now.

On a more serious note, is it possible for a novice to change a tie rod a la the above photo? Carrying spares isn't a bad idea for extreme terrain. Ok - somewhat newbie question - are the rods universal or do you need to carry one for each side (re: left and right)?

NEOCON1 09-27-2006 03:20 PM

Re: H3 video slam aginst H3

the trail fix is pretty simple just need an inner and outer spare . left and right side are same . count the number of turns in bent rod when removing then set new rod at same amount of turns . good enough to get to pavement , then seek professional help for an alignment check - adjustment . :jump: hey guys i just picked up a ball-joint / tierod fork that will be handy in the future for removal its in the tool bag !!!!! ;) :D

Re: H3 video slam aginst H3

Thx - Sweet advice! Should I go GM or aftermarket on the rods? Also, are the wrenches readily available at auto stores?

NEOCON1 09-28-2006 05:48 AM

Re: H3 video slam aginst H3

not sure on the aftermarkets yet , we just have spares from the dealer . just tell them you want an inner and outer tie-rod end . some dealers sell as kit with both . You should set up a tool kit with a metric socket set , wrenches and a couple big crescent wrenches , and a hammer :D some screwdrivers too . we dont wheel this kind of stuff that we break on by ourselves usually in groups of atleast 4 trucks with assorted tools and parts :D
