Hummers are American and American tax monies (thank the Bush admin) is funding research for Hydrogen energy, presently being researched by GM and other American companies.

I believe Bush (as well as former Presidents) gives more money (billions of it) to big oil. Then, they don't even have to pay to clean up their mess (Valdez). However, I'm grateful he's starting to fund alternative energy. It's going to help prompt further research and development. And, we shouldn't just be focusing on one technology. For instance, biodiesel will require enormous land use and potentially infringe on your off roading space. I haven't looked into it lately, but I'm guessing that the energy that goes into the extraction of hydrogen is enormous and potentially offsets any benefits.

As for your last comment of me buying into imported technology, it's probably responsible for some Americans to support this technology or American companies will never get off their complacent as*es and step up with competing technology.

GM may be American but they're outsourcing more of their manufacturing to other countries and there's word that they're now demanding that their suppliers outsource as well in order to bring down their overall expenses.

The definition of what it is to be an American Company is now drenched in muddy water. I, for one, am negatively affected by this. Maybe it's time that we Americans get off our complacent as*es and demand better for ourselves and our country.

Good observation. I will try not to say "I" or "me" when defending myself against future attacks.

Crap. It just happened again.

I'm scared to tell you. Why do you ask? I don't live in California, if that's what you're thinking.

I wouldn't be too scared. You could walk away from him and still escape.

OK, that's not fair admin. But at least I now know the Ducky will be pokey trying to catch me. Hopefully you're all fat or I'll be one really tired girl.

Hey, are y'all men here? I thought Ducky was a gal due to the handle (I'm a little slow and now understand the joke here). Now I'm thinking I'm seeing the errors of my ways and why we're having trouble communicating. You know, the whole men are from mars and women are from venus thing.

I have a pet alligator.

Seems people from FL have lots of exotic pets. I know someone there that has a pet pig. Only he feeds his pet fruit and veggies while it's obvious to me that you're wanting to feed your alligator a human named Zoe.

So you're not in the Everglades! That narrows it down to Tennessee or Alabama. Don't worry, my alligator only likes to eat hairy monkey girls. If you're not as liberal/hippy as your vehicle choice implies you are, you'll be fine.

Re: My girlfriend wants a prius

D'oh. I meant my neighbor here in Florida has a pet pig.

And, I may be a little liberal, but I'm not a hippy. Those two adjectives shouldn't be so readily intertwined.

Isn't it good to see that a bunch of conservative Hummer owners can wind up appreciating a liberal with an environmental bend? (I hope I'm not being too presumptuous.) Be careful or I'll start daily threads about how you too can help save our planet.

Good night. I'm retiring for the evening. I'll try to make it back tomorrow as I'm sure you will miss me if I don't.

Not interested. However, I am interested in restoring the giant panda habitats so we can increase the number of them. My people are having supply issues. I have 4500sq ft to carpet and nothing really compares to giant panda fur on the feet on a cold night. Also any insight you may have on other near extinct or endangered items, like trees, plants, etc that would look good around/in my house and need to be snatched up quickly, would be very helpful.

I love the RYD backpeddle the moment he finds out Zoe is a female.

As charming as a pile of used tampons baking in the Florida sun you think you are RYD, I don't think she's interested in you.:jump:

As to the Panda question about cold floors..........see? This is where I can be useful to you guys. Just move into a passive solar house. In this type of construction, the sun's winter angle enters your interior rooms fully. The heat generated from the sun is stored in your flooring. At night, the heat releases to heat your house to save on heat costs. In the summer, the sun's angle doesn't allow any entry in your house which saves on A/C costs. So your little toes will be twinkly warm all the time! No need to cut of the toes of a Panda to keep you warm!

Ducky, I saw that you were looking into the construction of a log home. Maybe you could utilize this. There are no expensive materials involved. The theory only involves the position and size of the awning, the position of the house and a flooring material that allows for the heat radiation. You'll save a ton of money on heating and cooling. Or did you build that house yet?

Ducky, you were the one that scared me most, but now I see that you probably can't move so fast. And, because you're usually not dressed, you'll be arrested before you find me anyways.

I don't know about that... I would still long for the feel of Panda between my toes. Plus, I like it kind of cold. I typically keep my thermostats at 62 degrees just so I can keep my outside decks in the mid-70s so I don't burn up while grilling or laying in the sun. I don't suppose you know of a way to efficiently control the temperature outside of your home, do you?
