Hard liquors are fine and all but they taste like sh1t, whiskey specially- admit it.

I only drink on occasion

-but I have this bottle of Absinthe Edouard I have been looking forward to, after the pregnancy of course.:)

I really like the preparation ritual, controversy and mystery of it all. Plus you get to buy all cute little silver spoons and special glasses. It's still illegal here I believe, but only to sell it, not consume.

Actually, I heard the Absinthe ban was recently lifted. But, I haven't looked in to it any further. I had a bottle and I'll be honest. It tastes like sh!t and doesnt do a damn thing except get you drunk.

Why was it banned? If it was, it must be good. :D

Is that where they put a sugar cube in it and mix it with a silver spoon?

I think I saw Sutherland do that on Cold Mountain.

I heard that! I brought back 4 bottles from Russia last year and it was rough! I was glad to see the end of it once it was gone.

I dont think it needs to be banned as it really didnt do anything cool. Just a mellow drunk..

We ordered ours from Liquors de France.

It was banned because the worm wood is a hallucinagenic.

Europe just lifted the ban a couple of years ago.

There are different kinds, also. The first bottle we got was a great gift, but used a different wood and is legal in the US.

This second one is the real deal. You can even order old, original bottles that have been discovered over time.

The key is proper preparation so it won't taste bad.

Tonight on Nat Geo, Moonshine. After all, that's whiskey.

Hey, if it wasn't for prohibition, there may not be NASCAR.:jump:

Maybe I should send you some Virginia Lightning.

I started out with JD, then went to Wild Turkey, and have settled on Crown Royal. Very Smooth. Crown on the rocks. Very nice.

My buddy likes Basil Hayden, Bookers, and Bakers. A bit more expensive.

Absinthe sounds fun. It is the next thing to try. My favorite quote about it...

?Got tight last night on absinthe. Did knife tricks.? ?Hemingway

So tonight I'm drinking good 'ol JD.

But this time I'm doing it ON THE ROCKS so Dennis doesn't consider me a hobo. :jump:

I also broke into the bottle of Jim Beam tonight. I'm not all that impressed. Maybe I'm just not a bourbon drinker. The sour mash is doing me some goooood though. :D :D

I just took a 1 gallon bag and loaded it up with ice cubes from our upstairs fridge and put it in our downstairs freezer. Now I don't have to walk upstairs to get ice for my JD. I even bought plastic cups so I don't ever have to leave my basement or garage. :jump:

More purchases this week. I gotta have something to do while I'm in Texas. :D

I'm intrigued by Rye whiskey. At first it's a little standoffish, but I can see myself liking the pepper taste after a while. We'll see.

I was just reading about XR. I think I need me some of that!

But my next bottle is going to be George Dickels. I need to taste that other Tennessee whiskey.

I consulted the Orcale last night (Wikipedia) and she told me all about whiskey. :jump:

I can't do it....

My favorite is Glenfiddich! But I can't call a full-glass of Knob Creek Kentucky bourbon on the rocks, with a water chaser -- crap!

Hell it still tastes good after the alcohol's been burned off! You know, pour some in a pan and burn the alcohol off. Then put what's left into BBQ sauce -- for pork ribs!

Don't give me any lip about alcohol abuse either! It's only abuse if there isn't enough for everyone to get their drink-on!

Damn, I'm getting thirsty! Hmmm.

Knob Creek is 100 proof. If I wanted to make rib jerky I'd baste them with it!

I think they'd turn out a wee bit on the "crispy critter" side after basting them in that much alcohol. I'll stick to what I know to be a proven recipe.

Banned! Ha, as far as me getting banned for 33 minutes, your true color is starting to show, there's a little bit of French in the RYD?! Tell the truth, you've slept with a Frenchmen.
