Is the military aware of this fact. Perhaps you should inform them so that they can start utilizing them. Imagine the costs savings you could offer them.

...sure you can. and little Susie really did take baby bear's H3 out of the garage!

rockking 11-30-2005 12:38 AM

I didn't see any difficult trails mentioned there......what about lower and upper helldarado.....everything else is the same trails that all vehicles (jeeps, sami's, bronco's, etc) run.
Hummer Club's opinion of obstacles is in no way the guidance. They're primarily interested in everyone just having a good "family" time together and not necessarily pushing the vehicles to their limits.
I will applaud you for your aggessive wheelin and definitely see you as one who's willing to push their truck. Again, don't be offended because of my opinion between the H1 and the H2. There are vehicles out there that make the H1 look like crap on the trails, however alot of H1 owners won't admit it.

By the way, where's that 1% where the H1 can go and the H2 can't?

Don't have any pictures so whether I tell you I have or have seen it happen I'm a liar so we'll just leave it at that.

rockking 11-30-2005 12:56 AM

Well actually if you were a member of the hummer club you would have access to prior events and would be able to see H1's on both obstacles.

Sorry, no ties, affliations or other known relationships with the funlands nor shipbuilder.

I have to offer some insight to all this. First off we'll look at this tree thing. Anywhere there is a road, trail, house, mall or porno shop where trees can grow...trees have been removed to make it. The Funland is a very young and very private off road park. The trails are all pretty new to wheelin use, some are old logging roads but are still grown in a good bit. If you guys watch the video you will see that the H2 had to remove trees to get through in places too. I personally am not fond of doing so but I just make sure no potential lumber grade trees are ever removed, that is a rule. We dont even scrape the bark off of a potential lumber grade or otherwise healthy tree. You must avoid these trees and if you even get near them you are hooking up a winch cable. The funland is actually more of a private hardcore rock crawling park, the majority of the trails were built for smaller jeep like trail buggy's, so for the hummers to run...H1's or H2's, there had to be some trees removed. I started clearing wider and straighter...easier (go ahead bash me...I can take it) trails for the hummers about a year ago when George (who usually runs his Mog over the rocks there) expressed interest in having some of you guys out for a ride. So some trees died, had the funland stayed open only to jeep like vehicles more trees would be alive but trees are cut for worse reasons every single day if you ask my opinion on the matter. You guys need to come to even terms on that one because h1 or h2 it dont matter, either or is not as friendly to the forest as a smaller-lighter vehicle. The video didnt do a good representation however just because of the tree huggers be damned part of it. We are actually very enviro-conscious at the funland, we only cross the streams at 90* angles, we have dug diversion ditches to prevent run off and errosion, anyone wheeling there has me or someone I or the land owners personally select guiding them to ensure the proper trails, and only the proper trails are run and run in a proper manor, making sure everyone stays on the property, there is no littering or otherwise malicious behavior. That is why the funland is by invite only, we keep it very policed and controled and its environment respected to prevent any problems, even though it is private.

Now for the H1-H2 debate. No stock vehicle does well in the funland. The H2 actually did ok for as big and low as it is, so I thought, performing how I assumed it would. It could of been beat on a little harder yes.... but shipbldr didnt baby it by any means either. He had expert level guides helping with lines and giving pointers, not one of you would of faired any better without taking more damage or moding your hummer. No one vehicle is going to do better everywhere but with funland like terrain the H1 will almost always manhandle the h2 and that is the final word on it. Slap a solid front axle in that h2 and some clearance then its a different story. Ultimatly though the funland is more of a small and highly modified vehicle type terrain, its really not best suited for any hummer so when someone has one in there they take a beatin and the machines are definatly pushed to the limits.

Oh yea, we also do not allow rock stacking or moving rocks under any circumstances at the funland. If you run those trails, you earned it, you didnt pave it. Our trails, even the easiest of them are far more challenging than what that video lets you believe.

This is an idea of what kind of trails make up the core of the funland. We have the hard trails, some of the most challenging stuff you can find anywhere if you guys wanna say an h2 has run a hard one, I'll set up the ride for you.

The trees still seem to be doing fine too...

We have the hard trails, some of the most challenging stuff you can find anywhere if you guys wanna say an h2 has run a hard one, I'll set up the ride for you. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Man, you guys are ghey. I don't care if you run your rock buggy up to the top of a 2000 year old cypress just to break it over, just don't put it on video to share with the world. And certainly don't try to justify by saying you are "blazing" a trail. Private land or not. It's simply not responsible.

It is the stupid ****s in crap built rigs that get off-trail just to prove that they can climb a little ledge or run over a damn tree that is causing public trails across the U.S. to get closed.

As far as your debate on vehicles, it makes about as much sense as windshield wipers on a goat's ass. I could show you pictures of a ****ing lake and tell you to try and get your little buggy across it...... get it. Understand scale. A piece of crap rock buggy is built for one purpose, albeit a fun purpose. We wheel our H2s where they are capable of going and would no more put them on a UROC course as we would try to cross a lake.

Same thing with H1s, except you can go buy a 10 year old beater and beat the crap out of it. Guess what? The oldest H2 is a little over 3 years old and very few people take their 3 year old vehicles out on trails knowing that carnage is going to happen. We try the hardest trails we can where we can make it through without breaking. Only wannabes would expect anything different.

The debate has been that H2s can't keep up with H1s and simply have shown that they can given the same level of comfort in the carnage area. I don't understand why it is such a problem to swallow. AM General worked with GM to come up with a design for the H2 to make it a capable vehicle and GM designed the interior to make it a comfortable vehicle. The H2 is made by AM General at the same location as the H1. It really shouldn't be that big of a stretch.

And lastly, to show how utterly incoherrant you are on the whole issue of vehicle dynamics. You state that the H2 would fair better with a SFA but state that the H1 will manhandle the H2 with it's 4 corner IS and very, very poor articulation. Sorry, but you're not allowed to have your cake and eat it too.

Maybe I should heed what you guys say and just keep all the hummers out to save the trees? Its far far less of a stretch to compare it to a 2500 chevy if you want to be specific. It was not my intention to bash the H2's by any means, just adding factual insight into the argument and the fact is the H1 will and does perform better at the funlands. I however have no intentions to argue with the ill equiped who appear to have flocked here, I have nothing to prove or gain from it. Have a good one.

I am betting you don't know crap about wheeling, this funlands place or your ass from a hole in the wall. Speaking of asses, get your head out of it. Alec and I had some great PM exchanges last night.

(Absolutely no sarcasm here)

And I think he raised some good points about the tree thing. My personal feels about it aside, I think Alec has a point that it does nothing for the greater.

I think that some of the guys from out west have some real concerns about the politics of the matter, deal with some real crap helping keep the trails open, and I don't think it's asking too much to show them some support.

About 4 hours ago we did some edits to the video, trimmed out the 90 or so seconds of chainsaw footage from the 2 spots it appears, and started a fresh compile which will start later tonight when I will replace the source on the server.

Please don't anyone get on Alec about this, he did not request it. He has some real concerns about the politics of the matter and I think they are valid. So changes made.

Psychobilly 11-30-2005 04:16 PM

Thanx for the welcome sfox. The guides and myself really are expert though and other than George the guides were not H1 owners. They are the local crew who wheel the funland bi-weekly, they have thousands of hours of seat time, know the lines and really do know how any given vehicle will react on certain terrain, yes any vehicle, thats what makes myself and them expert. If in any doubt about any vehicle or driver then they side with safety, that also makes them expert. I have only been on the trail with one other H2 prior to shipbldr though, been out with H1's on several occassions. Even with Marines as I organize a toys for tots trail ride with them.

No, why do you think only a tree can damage a rig? Are you out bashing your ride off of them all the time or what? When you run harder terrain things break. I've never got a tree dent at the funland myself but I've taken plenty of rock damage, broke a dozen or more axles and so on. You'll better understand when you start to wheel a little bit maybe.

"I feel sorry for you personally but give you no emotion" - Notice the oxymoron? Emphasis on Moron?

You need an education or what? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

"Condole your apathy" has turned into MY trying to get an emotional response? Nice try, sport. Get back to driving your Isuzu Rodeo on your little trails.

Hey Kyle..........Just left a voice mail for ya!

I imagine you're out taking care of some of your trails but I'm sure you'll return the call! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Are you talking to me. I don't have voice mail. Nice try, chief. I also don't "take care of my trails" either, I have someone to do that for me.

dennisajc and paragon, you guys must have extremely small penises, since you have to substitute your massive SUV's for your manhood! The better part of four wheeling skill is knowing the limits of your machine, and driving within them! Apparently, you think it's okay to beat the piss outta something to make it look like you know what you're doing. I guarantee that the funland would be beyond your skill level.

Damn, you boys are about as sharp as a box of chert.

and unlike you 2, I have wheeled in the funland, and wheeled a high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle in similar terrain local to the funland. If you're such a capable driver, come on out and show me how it's done, if you're as good as you think, there's plenty of events here that I'd like to see an H2 compete in and win.
