i could cut that out of a sold piece of alum but that is most likely a die cast part. what does that part go for? $$

That particular one is $85. They have a short description on their site on how it's made.

hard to make for 85$ even having the equipment to make it... i myself would still by it for 85$
Is it available for hummers though?

Those guards are used more for the front diff on a solid front axle setup, but I'm sure it would be helpful on the rear diff as well. I know I would worry less coming off pointy rocks with one on there.

I would imagine the GM 14-bolt one would fit. They haven't changed the housing in years have they?

Actually, DennisAJC is the one looking for them. He broke his out in Moab. The factory ones are plastic. I'm sure he'll see this and let you know more details. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

It was actually Alec that cracked one. But I'd like to replace them too since they're just plastic. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
My personal mechanic can do it. I'll have him start when I get back to Oregon.

PLEEEEEEEEZE count me in for the air-suspension pieces! I hate the idea that, in reality, my whole a$$ end is being held up by those little plastic POS's! Uh oh....I mentioned my a$$ end. Go ahead Drty.....

No offense, but I doubt you wheel as hard as Alec. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

No offense taken - I probably don't wheel as "hard." But I do wheel often - and often alone - and am MILES away from anything and anyone in the middle of the Mojave desert - so I'd rather not break down...

rodster, aren't the lugs a whell locks? or are you talking about a lock at the clasp? I agree I don't care for the way the license plate holder looks. TimG cut his off exposing the spare tires lug nuts and mounted the plate to the bar of the tire carrier. just a thought. I agree something needs to be done with this design. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by Humgirl&guy:

got a picture of what u mean? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

It's the black thing the tag is mounted on. A replacement product needn't be as big -- just big enough to hold the tag and cover the lug nuts. The half-circle brow immediately above the tag is generally chrome or brushed silver; mine is modified.

Make this product with a lock and you'll solve two problems: First, the OEM part is a bad aesthetic design to begin with and doesn't really match the rest of the truck. Second, if you include a lock, it'll secure the tire and wheel.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Ill take a good look at it when i goto the dealer to pick mine up. Ill let u know what my thoughts are. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
