Former amateur car thief turned professional locksmith; I can make keys to an H1 Alpha, without a key cutting machine, in three minutes or less.(It used to be quicker but I'm getting slow in my old age)

I own the biggest automotive locksmith business in the state with over a million dollars in annual sales but I started the business entirely by accident, it was a hobby that got away from me.

I'm also a locksmith school instructor. Anyone want to learn how to pick locks?

Klint 10-19-2005 10:31 PM

where are you from Killian

onlyGM 10-19-2005 10:48 PM

I personally do not know Adam Boca, but I have heard of him.

Many people at the factory are worried about current GM situation, especially ones that transferred from Delphi plants. People seemed to have mixed emotions. Some are hopeful that GM will come through, and others are doubtful about their pension.

Buy GM products!!!

Klint 10-19-2005 10:50 PM

When was this last large layoff? When in the past fifteen years have they done a layoff of salaried (non-union) personnel?
To answer your question....nope. Then again, I have fifteen years vested, plus 20 years vested with uncle sam. So, if they laid me off tomorrow, I would head for Utah, get a place in the desert, off road, and shoot my guns from my front porch.
However, i believe I will be employed until I retire in about 4 years. The salaried ranks are quite thin due to a lot of the early retirements they have offered over the past few years (never offered me one, though )

VP\IT Director. I work for a company that has some pretty cool history, including being owned by the family of the original owner of the Dallas Cowboys. This does produce tickets for two or three games a season. I understand that my company built Texas stadium as well, well before my time of course.

Adam's the short little bald headed guy.

I don't thing BG has any worries about closing, as long as the Vette keeps selling. I also believe GM can turn it around, with a few "ifs."
The union guys have to face the facts, their health care will become exactly what we, the salaried personnel have, so they will pay per month and have a deductible. The job bank has to go. The company has to keep designing more exciting vehicles. They have some coming out that are pretty good looking.
GM's quality has gone up quite a bit in the past few years, and these figures are shown on the JD Powers surveys.
As for the pensions, at the quarterly meeting I went to, Wagner clearly stated that GM is completely vested in their pension plans...health care for retires, is another matter.

Klint,
It all depends in your credit, remmenber most of the banks are Fico driven. In stand alone seconds the interest is higher. For such low amount, you are better of with a Heloc. You'll be paying between 6% to 7% (prime+rate). Let me know if interested, I can give you a few pointers. By the way nice looking truck...

I would like to visit CLAYDOG, sometime.

4ophenia 10-21-2005 12:43 AM

Klint, I gotta hand it to you. This topic has turned out to be a great way to get to know more about the people behind the wheel. I thought the topic was out of place at first, but I find myself returning to this thread more and more. And I'm really looking forward to meeting some of the local (CT) owners.

Good job!

Aubs 10-21-2005 12:57 AM

I'm a student, was studying Geology at UMass-Amherst, now studying Foresty with Forest Recreation so I can build an off-road park for all of us to enjoy when all public lands go off-limits! Also, a reseller of LED lighting systems for businesses and homes. Hope to eventually start a 'mail-order' used car biz, where I find the exact car a customer wants at auction and deliver at a set (small) fee over actual cost.

Dream Job: Own a Hummer dealership and get some of these brand unfaithful dealers (not everyone is like that, but some are) out of there and focus on true customer satisfaction with buying, service, and brand! I would kick butt, I guarantee!

My wife is a photographer. Graduated from Hallmark Institute of Photography, and is working towards opening a studio.

So yeah, there it is.
