Re: Rubicon Run 2K6

I was at Cadillac Hill on Saturday and made contact with the group for a while by CB radio. I did hear that H2 Rocks broke a tie rod. Too bad Adam wasn't there. I got to the top of Cadillac Hill around 11:30 am and hung out until 4:30 pm and could not get the group on the radio at that time. They said they were hoping to make it to Rubicon Springs by 5:30 pm that day. They would have had about 3 hours to make it out from there I would guess to the staging area on the Lake Tahoe side.

When I first made contact with the group Sewie gave me his GPS coordinates and they were only 1.8 miles as the crow flies from where I was at the top of Cadillac Hill.

I was heading back to the Lake by myself when I came upon a tight spot with a sharp right hand turn with a large boulder in the center of the turn. I got stuck on my drivers side undercarriage and thought I was screwed. This was about 5:30 pm and I had no winch with me. I stacked rocks and messed around for about an hour and then a jeep came by and strapped me off of it. This was the most built jeep I had ever seen and it was clean. I was so filthy from digging and stacking that I didn't get any pictures though.

I went back Sunday morning around 9:30 am almost all the way back to Cadillac Hill but could not get anyone on the radio so I headed out.

What time and what day did you guys make it out? It sounds like you came out on Sunday some time?

Last night around 10:15 ET is when we started getting calls.

I can't see the pics on that web site posted earlier.

Sounds like you all had a great time. Now go take a shower and watch out for the hidden spiders in your trucks.:giggling:

BTW, nice driveway pic, DRTY.:giggling:

Tah2oe, I would like to make another run in thru the Tahoma to Rubicon Springs. Let me know when you are wanting to go, I'll go with!

It's no where near as difficult as it is from Loon to Spider Lake or Spider Lake to Rubicon Springs, we can camp at Rubicon Springs and come back out.

Who else wants to go :giggling: :giggling: :giggling: :giggling:

It depends on if it is before or after I retire!:excited:

It was well worth the trip.

When I was packing the truck at your house this morning, I noticed the Right rear sway bar link was broken. I am in Sparks, NV and seems like I am in 4 wheel lock. I might run by the local dealer tomorrow for them to have a quick look. They don't have a link in stock.

My wife and I had a great time with our new friends. Anytime anyone heads to the Right coast, make sure you contact me. Would love to see everyone again.

Thanks for Dirty doing a great job of leading, spotting, rock stacking and being a general pain in the ass. It was great meeting you.

Beebee for organizing this. just remember, when we are on the trail, sleeping is a no no. No matter how late it gets.

Finally and family, keep your daughter under careful watch, my wife loved her. Great spotting and driving.

Doc and family & friends, it was great meeting and wheeling with you.

Rox, we meet again and did we do it right! We now are the owners of the First Official Triple Crown, Paragon the best in the East, Moab the most scenic of anywhere I have been so far in the country, and finally and without hesitation that I say the most difficult, technical, frustrating, tiring, truck battlefield and the Crown Jewel of all off-road trails, The Rubicon Trail. Incredible!:beerchug:

Sewie, excellent spotting and driving. Great meeting you.

Shagster, what can I say? You got to the end.

Great group dynamics.:clapping:

What's next?

If it's a t-case issue, call me and I'll tell you how to manually change the t-case gears to 4-hi. Very easy and you only need a 10mm wrench and a pair of pliers.

Sounds like you all had a great time. I hope there wasn't too much damage and too much pulling of the non-HUMMERS. And I really hope there wasn't any crying.

Congrats and hope to see some of you in Moab next year.:excited:

I am in 4 wheel hi, but when I do a full lock turn at parking speed, feels like the wheels want to go straight.

There was no :crying: because there was no one but us holding us up. And no hostility towards us.

Glad you all had a great trip and all made it home safe. Sorry I could not make it!!

I consoled myself Friday by having a huge BBQ Lunch at a friends 4wd Shop and then continued the food fest throughout the weekend with my Wife as we cleaned out the junk from the Garage!

Looking forward to seeing more Pics!

Great to see you again too Oldman! I loved getting to visit with your wife this time! Awesome gal!

I think we should do Deadwood Forest (or whatever it's called) in the Dakotas. Maybe next summer? I can bring the family again, and Theresa even wants to go see that. Now that I have a tent, the possibilities are endless.:D
Have a great trip home, and post pics of your adventures along the way!
