Shawn thanks for doing the research as I do not know where to start but I am very interested also. I am going to buy the adapter as well and try this but interested in making the nav work at higher speeds since I am always having passengers in my car.

Hey guys, you might try emailing Jason or his guys over at JP Customs. When I had my Tahoe he emailed me some pin-outs for some mods and I bet they've already tried to install the NAV unit. They may be able to help. He's a good guy and always tries to help on mods.

Is there a Pioneer XM radio I can hook up to the GM head unit with this adapter that I can hide and control with the GM head unit?

Hello.

Im pretty new to the forum, just picked up my 04' H2 yesterday and cant stop smiling. I have the Nav upgrade and want to install the sat. radio. Am I understanding you correctly? you can install this pioneer with the Nav/radio head unit and still use the steerwheel controls as well as the factory stereo?

Thanks

Dedo-man,

That's what we are being told. I have a '03, so I have the 6 CD unit, no NAV.

As soon as the UPS guy pays me a few visits this week, I should be able to give you more answers.

Dedo--
I have the 04 with the nav and I should have mine within the next two days and I will let you know if it for sure works in the 04 nav units.

LAPD,

Did you get a chance to test over the holiday?

Still two nagging questions:

1) Can you use the Nav while listening to the CD-changer

2) Can you get the Nav to accept commands at over 8MPH

Many thanks in advance,

I have finished adding the soundgate adapter with a 12 disc changer. I am able to use the nav while listenting to the cd changer. It works great and I am loving it. I have posted it in the technical discussions with pictures. If you have any questions feel free to ask I am always on here and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Does it have to be the Pioneer XM head or can I use the Delphi Commander head? Also is the pioneer head a one wire antenna or two?

It has to be the pioneer brand. It is a one antenna. However there is a adapter that pioneer makes that you can have their "ip bus cable" to RCA plug. You might be able to hook up the commander given it has RCA adapters. You will not be able to use the steering wheel controls but it will play through the factory unit. Let me know if any more questions.

cmb,

You win the Challenge.

Nice work - thanks for all of the information.

CMB: Thanks for all the info:
I was wondering if the Pioneer head uses a 1 wire or two wite xm antenna (I would like to be able to leave the little one wire Terk antenna I already have from my Commander installed)?
So all I should need is the following?
Soundgate PIOGM1V2 Converter
Pioneer GEX-P910XM HEad Unit
Pioneer CDX-P1280 12-CD Changer

Navigator that is correct. Make sure you get the V2 of the soundgate. This is the one that will work with the 910Xm. All you need is those three things. Let me know if I can be of more assistance.
