People in the parties change. The old southern democrats are now republicans. I don't know what to call the new democrats... whig, federalists? The parties change. I think in the next 50 years or so, the democrats are going to fade out(this is bad because they are our oldest party, Thomas Jefferson was a democrat,) and a new party will replace them.
