Hey BADRAP,
Looks good, do you want a job? Can I send you some skid plates? ![]() ![]() ![]() Did you polish all of the skid plate or just the front? It takes me over 4 hours with commercial equipment, starting with 220 grit 3M gold, to polish a skid plate. The finished product is a show quality mirror finish. Much of the work that I do is for show cars, trucks, & bikes. Oh yea and boats too. I have spent countless hours sculpting welds on stainless steel, grinding and polishing pipes to a mirror finish in the engine room for only the captain, and mechanic to see. Or sometimes my work is displayed in a museum or at a show for all to see. In any case I applaud your effort and the results, I hope that if other h2 owners don’t send them to me to be polished they will get out the rags and start scrubbing, it just looks so much better. ![]() James, WWW.BRIGHTLEE.COM |
Bright-Lee,
Sure I will help you out, was not a big deal to do. I polished the whole thing, not counting the side that it motor up, but I did it all. Thanks for the applause as it was a little work, but worth it... BADRAP 03 H2, Lux, Pewter, more upgrades soon.. Houston Texas H2 Hummer Chapter.. badrap@sbcglobal.net |
When I take the skid plate off, whats underneath it? Will I be able to drive it or will I have to park it till I get it the plate back?

For example, in order to reach all of the zerk (grease) fittings you MUST remove it, as well as when performing oil changes etc. The purpose of the skid plate is to protect the vulnerable underbelly of the H2 when offroading. Or maybe when onroading if you drive over giantic curbs. Removing the skid plate should not be any problem whatsoever as long as you do not drive over anything high enough to hit the bottom of the Hummer. I left mine off for a week and never even thought about it, except for noticing how much better it looks with the skid plate in place. But, if you want the skid plate to REALLY look nice, send it to Bright-Lee for polishing! ![]() He does fantastic work and I am glad I had him polish mine... Ed |
i tried the 1000 grit paper but it looks like its scratching the metal so i just did it with mothers not a mirror finish

You have to wetsand it, and it will take some time. YOU HAVE TO USE WATER, KEEP IT WET. Then once you have all the edges out and the surface smooth, then you can polish it...Send it to me and I will do it for you. $100 bucks..
