Re: Group Buy for HID Bi-Xenon Headlights
Hey guys here is an update for what?s going. I talked to Ben today. The Classic Headlights shipment is being held up in Customs for a week. So that means they were originally supposed to ship today, but now there is a week delay.
The moderns are in so i am going to just switch my order to them. They will be shipped out today. If these fit and everything is ok, would anyone be interested in buying the Modern Set from me since i really want the Classics since they are DOT compliant??? Ben stated it?s hard to sell a used pair as new if i returned the Moderns so i figured someone on here would snatch them up and i would then just go and buy the Classics later when they are in. I should have them next tues or weds and ill install them that night. I also bought 9007 to H4 adapters incase i need it for the wiring and trying to cover all anticipated snags. Not sure if it?s needed, but i want to cover all bases. If these work, it is a hell of a buy even if you might need the adapter as the closest HIDs are 700 dollars more. |

Hey Guys sorry for delay, got busy with the Holiday,
Here goes.... You will have to remove your grill to access and remove stock headlight. The Headlight will fit but will need slight modification to the housing by way of dermal or similar device to make room for wiring (See Pic 2). You will also need an adapter 9007 to H4 (See Pic 3/4), other than that wiring is straight forward and works for both low and high beam. The light distribution is good and is very bright but does have a very distinct cut off as seen in the photos. I did have the headlight in the stock housing with pics from last week but somehow my Droid X did not save them so i just took these tonight of the light pattern. I am sending back my Moderns tomorrow and having the Classics sent out which are now in stock. If you are handy it shouldn?t be a problem to install these... you definitely will need the 9007/H4 adapter and some modification to the housing. I got my adapter kit from Summit Racing and is made by Delta and they are the only ones who make a direct adapter for a Hummer H2. This should work too... http://www.teakatoys.com/HUMMER_H2_S... /tl-96630.htm If you guys still want to do group buy, let me know and i will have him set up that special website for us. I know the adapter is an added cost so just give me a general consensus of what you guys think. Re: Group Buy for HID Bi-Xenon Headlights
The classics look very nice and have no problem fitting as you can see. They look pretty sweet. The light was ok but i was a little underwhelmed when driving with their performance. I talked to Ben and we did an experiment by me using my 55 watt ballast that i already had instead of the 35 watt that came with the set. As you can see from the 5th picture down, the LHL had 55watt ballast vs RHL with 35 watt. The 6th picture down has both headlights with 55watt Ballast. I think these headlights def need the 55watt ballast to put enough light to be good. The HID light was supposed to be 6000k but they were way too blue when driving and were not good especially with snow around. I think the HIDs i got were actually more 10000k. When i was testing them briefly last night it was snowing and the headlights got covered with snow and alot of the light was blocked and it seemed like i had no headlights. I had to flip on my Rigid LEDs which kick ass! I feel like the Modern HIDs i had first had a bigger lens and the light output seemed stronger. As stated before my motivation for the Classics were they are DOT approved.
What i learned is they 100% DO FIT, you need H4-9007 Adapter and I think you need a 55 watt ballast to be considered good for the classics. If you don’t care about DOT compliance, then i think Moderns are the way to go. Obviously the color does matter of the light, 5000-6000k being the ideal colors. I am undecided if i am going to keep these or return them. I am not crazy about having to modify them to make them good. Please message me with any questions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Re: Group Buy for HID Bi-Xenon Headlights
So for anyone wondering or thinking, the Group Buy is definitely still a go if there is enough interest. The Moderns are definitely good and available. You can order them in Flat Black or High Gloss. We are working on upgrading the Classics . The Classics are completely brand new and I was like one of first to test them out. Ben is getting a package together for me to test which includes 5000k Light, 55 watt ballast and we are replacing the headlights I got as the lens in the left Headlight was possibly defective from manufacture. I am going to work with him and give this upgrade a shot. If this works which i am sure it will, then we would have a special Hummer Package available to us when we order with 55 Watt Ballast. If you intend on getting a set, would you guys want the H4 Adapter included or would you guys just buy on your own? You can PM or reply to get an idea of how many still want the Moderns or want to hold out till I test upgraded Classics.
I know this has taken some time and trust me I just want a darn set now and be done with it, but I want to make sure everything is right. Anything is better than the putrid stock halogens, so i really want to work to make this right. |
Re: Group Buy for HID Bi-Xenon Headlights
