Studies show that the ritualistic 'hazing' that new forum members go through is really a social phenomenon that goes back millenia. Originally, aboriginie's used to use bamboo sticks and whale blubber to beat visitors as part of the process to join their tribe. Typically these ritualistic beatings would happen near sunset, when a haze would form due to the heat of the Australian outback. Hence the origination of the term 'hazing'

In the dark ages, traveling Scotsmen would try and join the various tribes. They would go through a competition to show strength (you see these in highland festivals nowadays).

All these are precursors to the new fad of iniation on the forums here at elcova. They are simply initiation rites of passage new members must go through. This is especially true of (wannabe) dominate males who come into the forums spouting rhetoric and stupidity. They deserve a smackdown unless they show appropriate submission to the clan chiefs.

(note: my role in this Steve Irwin adventure? Drunken stupidity - I'm the comic relief:D )

I knew it. Too bad my worst/best mileage of 14/18 (and average 15 mpg) doesn't reflect the benefit of bling.

I think any 4X4 will suck gas no matter what you do to it as you have alot more weight and drag through the drive train.

LOL!!!

Maybe part of the registration process should be a test on using the SEARCH feature :D

dеiтайожни 08-03-2006 08:24 AM

Re: What can be done to better the MPG for the H3?

**** the search feature, they should just get rid of it.

What the registration should include is a series of statements, images and questions meant to break you down mentally and desensitize you. If you can make it through, you can join but have to wait 15 minutes to post to give you time to stop hysterically crying. ;)

Can you imagine a Hummer forum without a Hazing process, a bunch of megalomanic turds spouting off and talking out thier azz?

(wait- I have seen one like that sumwhar.:X:D)

Here it induces humility and kinship-then a big family. That is all.

Back to the topic. Next time you fill up just put the fuel nozzle in the window, put 30 gallons inside your truck. Then get back in and strike a match.

This has nothing to do with this thread.

I get 13MPG in the H2. I don't think I'll be switching to the H3 for better mileage anytime soon.

Re: What can be done to better the MPG for the H3?

Back to the original thread... I was getting 330 per tank at a cost of $44.00 to fill up... I was happy with that. Now with the 33" MT's I am getting 260 miles per tank and still think that is good. As for the original poster of this thread, I consider myself lucky not to have fianacial concerns and gas MPG does not worry me, if it had I would have bought some generic SUV with better MPG.

Lex_Ordo 12-14-2006 11:49 PM

Re: What can be done to better the MPG for the H3?

I have the Factory 33's, and I get about 260 with around town driving. I figure that I am anywhere from 11 to 12 gallons a mile.
Hwy best was 18.6 gallons per mile.

Re: What can be done to better the MPG for the H3?

I also heard that if you reprogram the Internal computer, you can get better fuel mileage. I have no idea if this is true, so if someine know's this for fact, and has done it, maybe they can be some help. Or at least explain how this can be true.

As a peace officer, I watched that video and I was queasy.

Their training method (typical of the time) was to strike and not physically engage (ie: wrestle) with suspects. My training included ground fighting techniques. Although you can get hurt more easily while ground fighting, there was enough guys there to pile on and subdue him. Damn. Sorry for the hijack.

I don't think you missed anything. He was just hoping someone could tell him, in a time when Corvettes with twice the horsepower get twice the MPG of a Hummer, if there was a way to squeak a couple extra MPG out of the inline 5.

From the looks of the response here, I'd say the answer is no.:twak:

I wonder how all these upstanding citizens would react if he found a low-cost way to get 10 MPG better than factory without affecting driveability? Just saying...

Re: What can be done to better the MPG for the H3?

It is what it is ... you're not going to squeeze any more mileage out of it. About the best thing you can do is routine maintenance, so you don't LOSE any mileage. Maybe switch to synthetic oil if you live in a cold climate?

The rest is academic ... a light foot, light load, proper tire pressure and no exterior accessories (roof rack, grille guard, mud tires, etc.)

It's a bit of a losing cause, isn't it? :(

If someone figures out how to overcome physics, gas mileage won't be an issue anymore... but weight and lack of aerodynamics are formidable opponants.
