I see you guys had both the Toyos and Coopers out on this trip. Did one brand excel over the other? Are the Toyos worth the extra money? Does anyone know how either tire does on wet pavement and in the snow? Thank you.

And BFG MT's. ;)

They all did really well in the rocks and on slickrock. Can't speak for anything else on the Toyos since I've only had them less than a week. ;)

Re: H3's on the Rubicon

It was a great trip. A bit nerve wracking at times trying to prevent damage to your rigs, but I think overall we did well with little carnage.

Thanks for letting us come along! You were all great company and we all had a very enjoyable trip. Lots of great food, that chicken was killer (Bebe, you should post the recipe on our club Grub board!)

BTW Here's a picture of Spider Lake taken when we went swimming Saturday. This lake is one of the many reasons FOTR is working so hard to preserve the Rubicon.

Interested in helping keep the Rubicon open forever? Please visit the Friends Of The Rubicon (FOTR) page at http://www.friendsoftherubicon.com/ to find out what you can do to help! We are always looking for volunteers for our work parties, educational drives, and other projects.

If you don't have the time to help with work projects, you can also donate to the nonprofit Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF). More information at http://www.rubicontrail.org/.

Getting her out of that position was the fun part. :D

She had her rear bumper wedged into a boulder and her front skid on another boulder. We had to strap her back end to a tree so she wouldn't roll and winch her front end over the boulder in front. All while leaning sideways downhill. I believe she said her tilt meter was pegged at 45. :D

Re: H3's on the Rubicon

Sorry, I left the BFG M/Ts out of my question because I'm looking for a sipped M/T. So my two choices right now are the Toyos or Coopers.

Re: H3's on the Rubicon

Awesome Scotte, a little Rubicon education goes a long way. I learned so much in the last couple of weeks preparing for the trip. And being on the 'Con with you really drove it home how important it is that we all do whatever we can to keep it open.

Welcome to the board Scotte!

Hey Scotte -

You guys were awesome. I don't think we could have had a better group to lead us through. I defintely look forward to meeting up with you guys again.

And ditto what Bebe said.

I wouldn't recommend the Coopers. I had a set for a while and finally went back to BFG's. Coopers were the same tread design as the Toyo's, but I had a lot of trouble keeping them balanced. I had to have one replaced after a trip to Moab. Too much trouble for me.
