Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
I personally think the 13.50's would look better than the 12.50's in 37's. Perfect height to width

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
ive deciided to go with toyo open coutry mt 37's. gonna wait for spring though

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!

Fabtech's website lists the correct backspacing needed for their kits. I understand you're not using Fabtech's kit, but it might give you an idea of what to look for. Again, everyone is looking at offset only, and I understand it's what wheel manufacturers list, but we should be looking at backspacing AND offset. If you find a wheel you like, call and get the specs. A 10-20 minute phone call can save a lot of hunting around and headaches later... There is also a tech article on another website (don't think I'm allowed to post it here) that describes the requirements for the Fabtech lift. PM me and I'll direct you there. I keep thinking of things to add. When I purchased my truck, the previous owner had 37's with 22" wheels, and they rubbed. I changed to 38's on a 20" wheel, and avoided rubbing my sways by changing to a correct backspacing. I also lifted my truck a bit more, but that has nothing to do with the sway bar issue. |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Fabtech pushes the front wheels out further than the Rancho. Just call em they are very helpful. Rancho Suspension: Contact Phone Number - 1 734 384 7804.

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
i had already talked ot rancho. they just said they tested their kit with a 5" backspacing on a 17x10 wheel with 37x12.5 tires. my new wheels are 20x10 with a 4.5" backspacing, so i should be good. ive also decided to go with a 38x13.50 toyo open country MT tire. with the amount of backspacing i have, i shouldnt have a problem with rubbing.

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
I may be selling my Toyo 38's on KMC Hoss 20's and stepping up to 40's (damn Bimmer...). Interested? Or did you already place an order?
|
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
i already have the wheels. just need the tires now. thanks though. got any pics though?
|
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Not only hours of headaches but thousands of dollars of wasted money.
....cause we've all wasted a bunch of money trying different stuff only to find out it didnt fit or look as good as we thought it would, right??? Right? :D Mark |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Right.
I'll have to post some pictures when I get home. Not sure if I have any updated ones, though. |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
I'm only on my fourth set of wheels (one set I got from you Mark). :giggling:
|
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
My second set of rims, with Truxxx keys and spacer... LAME!

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
i had a escalade before my hummer. went through 4 sets of wheels on that. with my camaro, this is my 2nd set of wheels in less than 2 years..... its addicting. after i do the lift on the hummer, not only did i just buy new wheels for 38's, but ill have to buy new wheels to run in the winter since the stock wheels wont fit with the rancho lift.......i love spending money. lol

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Just wanted to clarify some mis-information I posted earlier. I was correct on backspacing being measured from the inner lip/back of the wheel to the hub. But offset is measured from the center of the wheel, NOT the hub, to the outter lip/front of the wheel. Essentially, the dead center of the wheel is a 0 offset, and a -12 offset moves the hub closer to the inner lip/back of the wheel. A +12 offset would move the hub closer to the outter lip/front of the wheel. Hope I cleared up any confusion I caused. And I didn't want to look like an idiot. :D
*By "hub" I'm referring to the part of the wheel where the lug nuts go, not the hub on the truck. |

Do you carry a spare at all? |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!

Not at all, I'll throw the spare tire carrier back on only if I'm going for long trips, other than that the spare stays in the garage.... |

I was debating whether to get the Gobi's Tire carrier for the roof, but it will be a task to mount and unmount due to the size and weight I have to mess with... |

I could have swore that I saw someone on the forum with a slantback spare tire mount on their H2. I can't find the thread or a pic anywhere now. I recall the pic was of a black SUT with a lift and custom bumpers...I don't know, but it was similar to this: ![]() EDIT: Found it...http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ight=body+lift |

That looks pretty sweet, the closest I can find and possibly modify are these. Just get a good welder and fabricate a carrier in between the post. ![]() ![]() |

...then get it powder coated and call it a day. A local welding shop charged me $75 to mod my stock carrier to lift the tire up. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...hlight=carrier You just need a couple cross bars and a mounting point; which you could have cut from your stock arm...dunno...food for thought. |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Truck looks good!!!
|
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
The company that does most of my work moddified one of the above pictured bed bar set-ups to carry a spare. The guy had it on for a couple of years, but ended up ditching it because it rendered the bed useless.
I disagree with most of the opinions here. I like the look of the rear tire carrier. Without it, the truck looks too short, almost like someone smooshed it. |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
I see your point but I personally like the fact that I don't have to swing my spare carrier open everytime I want to drop the tailgate. Plus I think it makes the truck seem wider ;) gotta love fat rear ends. Well..to some extent. But it's all personal preference!

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
I can finally be added to this list! To keep this thread going, here's my Rancho/Truxxx lift..:dancingbanana:

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Looks awesome! Cut those bump stops off the front shocks, you'll never bottom them out.

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Awwww, what a cute little truck...
:giggling: Seriously, dude, that looks GREAT! What size tires? Makes me wanna put black wheels on mine. Mark |

Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Nice Mark, are they rubbing? Mine rubbed like crazy with 12" wide wheels.
|
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
Quote:
The only time they rub is if I have the wheel turned all the way to the right and go in reverse, you can juuuust hear them rub. You would think if they rubbed, they would rub in either direction. ... but like I said, haaardly. So you?re not running 12?s? How wide are you running? Mark |
Re: LIFTED HUMMERS THREAD!!
I do run 12's, so they would rub more when turning then your 10's. Yea mine would catch the fender liners in reverse so I had to trim a lil off. Plus the Super Swamper is a true 40" measuring 40" which doesn't help.

It's not little anymore! ;) just a little smaller than yours at the moment! And yes they are 38X13.50...You really should change to black wheels! |
