Re: Black it out!

Re: Black it out!

Rancho lift + wheelin= 37 13.50 on 17" or 18" rim Rancho lift + road use only= 38 13.50 Fabtech lift + Wheelin= 38 13.50/ or wider or 22's with 40's seem to work too Fabtech lift + Road use only= 40's on 18,20, 0r 22" rim We should make these specs a sticky somewhere since it;s been a frequent topic lately. :D I have the Rancho lift and when flexed all the way, the 37 13.50's just clear front and rear. |
Re: Black it out!
If you are going to wheel... a 22" wheel shouldn't even be a consideration anyway. All of that sidewall loss and tire flex will mean less traction on rocks and a higher likely hood of loss beads since the tire can't move as much without the extra sidewall.

Ditto...I use my 20" with the 38's for the highway |
Re: Black it out!
thanks....
yeah, i dont know if i could bring a set of 22's out and trash them up a bit. A think 20's is about as big as i would go. However, im in florida and the tallest mountain around here is the local landfills.... Hmmm... maybe i'll get a pic of that :) |

Re: Black it out!
Could you get away with a Fabtec 6", 40's, and 18-20" wheels if you use it for lots of hunting. (ofcourse lots of road driving). Maybe not so wide of tires? Really little or zero rock/mountain riding. I do not want to tear it up, but I want Albies Rig but maybe in Solar Flare. (I prefer Pewter but there is little color choices for 08)

Re: Black it out!
I decided to blackout all the chrome last weekend. I did mirrors, door handles, hood latches, hood handles and wheels flat black with "flattened" clear. The grill and roof racks are Rustoleum spray on bedliner. The tailgate is Herculiner for extra protection... I have a habit of throwin stuff like chains, shovels in/at the back. The only Chrome I left are the H2 emblems... heres a few pics

Re: Black it out!
what did you do to prep the chrome for the paint?
i have a front grill and rock guards i want to black out.. and yours looks pretty good. |
Re: Black it out!
I sanded the grill and door handles by hand 80-150 grit then wiped them with acetone. The rest is tuffer chrome plating, I used a couple diff. methods and tools.. wire wheels, DA sander. Most of the project is prep. I am surprised how good the bedliner looks on the grill. Def more then i could have expected for $10

Re: Black it out!
Tarheel,
Do you know what offset and backspacing your Rockstars are? ALso, What size tires are they? Did you need a lift? Looks awesome. |
Re: Black it out!

The 20" Rockstars come in 20x10 with a -24mm offset, and the 20x12 will have the -44mm offset which looks Awesome!! This is my blue with -44mms ![]() |
Re: Black it out!
Love em..
Do they rub at all? I'm going with the Toyo MT's so I'm concerned that I'll get major rubbing with a 12 wide. I really want to consider the 22's as the toyo mt's come in a 35x12.5r 22.. I'm just a little worried that they may be too skinny. I don't want it to look like a "street" truck. I'd like a litttle off road appeal. Most of the off roading will be when I take her to the mountains to go skiing. Quote:

Re: Black it out!
rubbed a lil tiny bit til I turned the keys, no lift, just turned them, then no more rub. But you'll be juuuuuuust fine with the 12"s if you get a leveling kit.

Not sure on the backspacing... I can check on that and get back to you. The wheels are 22x12 and the tires are 37x13.5x22 Kumho KL71. No lift, just cranked the T-Bars to level it out! had a slight rub @ 3/4 turn but I did a little trimming and it's perfect now! Thanks for all the complements guys! |

What's the offset on those wheels? I'd like to see them in on a 37inch tire. Are those 38x15!? I love it. I wonder if they'd look as good a 37x13.5 inch kuhmo Did they rub before you had a lift or did you do them both at the same time. Do you know what your overall height increase was? That thing probably wouldn't fit into my garage. I had to take off all of my cross bars just to fit into mine. I may have 3 inches of space tops.. I'd be afraid to do a lift other than 37" tires alone out of fear that I wouldn't fit into my garage. |
