Driving the new Porsche compared to the older style is much like driving a C6 compared to a C5 to a C4 Corvette.

Obviously more powerful, better handling and definitely smoother. I can't explain how smooth this car is in the turns.

It's only 315HP which is not overly exciting but with a 4.8 0-60 and a top speed of 174mph, it'll get for an aspirated 6 cyl.

I've always wanted a Porsche because to me, it's a driver's car built by drivers. It's ergonomically correct, it's smooth, everything fits, the clutch is fantastic.... and since I wanted a convertible, that left me with either spending 140-160K for a 911 convertible or 80K for a Boxster. I've always liked everything about a Boxster but the body style. It was entirely too feminine for me. (no offense to those that have one)

Anyway, love the car, can't wait to hit the track with it.

LOL!!! Says the guy who immediately put a keg in the trunk of his Porsche...AND stopped to take a picture! TOO FUNNY!

It's pretty though...I'm not one for foreign cars, but it does look nice for a Boxster. They definitely 'manned them up.'

I agree, the Z06 looks fantastic... the interior however... let's just say that it's not my cup of tea. (quilted, harley skulls, carbon fiber, leather, suede, looks like he couldn't make up his mind in what direction/theme he wanted to take his car towards)

The BMW is tastefully done, I love the supercharger and the interior looks great... nice job!!

I'll bet it's a blast to drive.

Sorry, haven't been on in a while... Well, the wife and I used to live in Hollywood, and we were both, I guess you can call us paparazzi :shhh:

We did it for aobut 12 years and retired and moved to NH about 4 years ago, before it got very crazy there like is it now. There was no chasing celebs in cars back then, most of our work was clubs, restaraunts, and some red carpet. The red carpets don't pay squat... there literally was no competition back then and it paid crazy crazy money because of exclusive shots, meaning I would be the only one with the shot and the mags would bid on them like crazy...

I know a lot of people have a problem with that line of work, but say what you will, that is my lil toy $ secret:)

I had a 1985 and 1989 Porsche 911 and loved everything about them except the air conditioning on the older 911s left a lot to be desired. You get an incredible feel for the road in a Porsche that is unique. The '89 was a turbo and spent a few days in the shop under warranty getting the turbo issue ironed out that they had with the 88 and 89 models. As far as a driver's car, they're right with the BMW M5 in my opinion, but the new M5s have gotten too big and don't compare to the older E39s. My favorite toy is my 2004 Vortech supercharged Z06 with the Bassani short tube headers and Borla exhaust. With 588 RWHP it is more car than I will ever need. It is much more comfortable than my old Viper and I can actually do a road trip in the Corvette and be comfortable in it. With the lack of sound proofing and insulation in the Z06 I do get some blower whine from it. It's also getting harder to find the thin glass they used on the C5 Z06 for windshield and sides. I have a spare windshield I keep at the shop just in case. I just got home last night from Corvettes at Carlisle and the C5 drove like a dream. With all that said, I will always have a soft spot for German engineering and the Porsches.

I love Porsches and Corvettes too! There's something I've also always loved about German engineering. My Hummer has become my daily driver but I also have kept my 2002 BMW M5 and agree that the new ones have gotten too big. It's the longest I've ever kept a car. These are my garage queens. They are solid investments - like a 401k! You can't take it with you and I find myself going out in the garage and just sitting in them. I love your Porsche, Mark. Every German car should come with a keg of beer, just like some Italian car dealers give you a case of wine with the sale!

I was wondering what the hell was going on out by Carlisle. I was coming back from Hershey and I kept seeing Corvette after Corvette on 81...it was very surreal. LOL!

Jim,

I want to see those pics close up. Got any more pics? Those are some hot cars. This is my first P car and I've always wanted one but I can't afford $160K on a 911 which means my only choice for a convertible was a boxster.

The boxster is a great car, reliable, handles well, fun to drive, blah, blah, blah but at the end of the day, it looks like an overgrown Miata.

When the new 981 came out, I was sold. So far I love it... can't wait to hit the track with it.

Post some pics or send them to my email. orangecrush03@gmail.com

Thanks,

Mark

I just found these, from a few years back when I had the new 09, and was a "bit" more into the chrome lol..

and did I actually have a Chevy Volt in the garage! wft was I thinking?

I was just also thinking too. I've been through a lot of cars but the one that's most consistent is the Hummer. Weird, it's always the least one I drive. but the one I like the most. It's really kinda nice even just seeing it sitting in the garage...

Thanks for the response. It may not be your cup of tea but I feel it is very well put together. A combination of leather and suede is commonly used on interiors. The quilted piece is a hand sewn leather diamond stitch drape for the sides of the console and the skulls are the Jake Skulls for Corvette Racing. Carbon Fiber is also used quite often but I didn't want to go with the traditional piano black look, that's why it's silver carbon fiber to change it up a bit. And yes, the M is a blast to drive, like a go cart. Thanks Again!!!

No...just a regular turbo; but I put the GMPD LNF Turbo upgrade package, catback and CAI on it. It was supposed to push 290hp with just the LNF, so I figure I prolly got another 10 out of the exhaust and CAI.

It's not every day that you get 300hps out of a 2.0 liter...

I always said that if I had to buy a foreign car it would be a Subaru WRX. They sound so sweet for a 4 banger...and the AWD; well, that just seals the deal in my book.

I still wish we had the Eagles though...they were in that domestic niche market that Subaru eventually gobbled up...
