Anymore news on an update yet??? |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
I have a new unit that I'm tring right now. I well be getting one next week to try out as well. A.I. has narrowed it down to a software bug. They now have a laptop hooked up to a rig that they have put 1600+ miles on. The ver 5 firmware was made to work with the H3 and vett. And thats where the problem is, in the change from ver.4 to ver.5. A.I. did not think that it would take this long to fix but they want to get it right. We now know it's not the hardware so the software guys are working on it. I hope next week brings good news.

Thanks for the update!
Please keep us informed with how things are progressing. I know several people on this Forum are interested and still holding out for a "final" fix before purchasing. Thanks again for the update! |

Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
My call into the tech last week were positive too.
I am being told to check back around 08/16 for the fix to be available |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
Called them again ( 1-800-336-6500 ext 513 ) and was advised its going to be about 6-7 more days for the fix. It appears they have most of it handled according to their tech guys.
If i call back in a week and hear this same line, i am going to snap. |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
What about the H2/H3 DICE iPod unit as an alternative:

Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
Installed one of the Nucleus units yesterday.... driving last night I noticed a couple of quirks on the instrument cluster but it went away very quickly, a problem I can definately live with but would like to see fixed. The unit works fantastic.

Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
Question about this unit..... it seems you can go to the next song turning the tune know on the Head unit but from the steering wheel there is a seek up/down button, when I hit this it goes into fast forward/rewind and does it till the song is over... I tried pushing twice (like the instructions say for radios without a tune knob), any way to go from track to track using the steering wheel???? This would be my only complaint otherwise this is simply an awesome unit.
Thanks |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
This is the third XC2i I've installed in my H3, and all three have had problems. Now, the speedo, tach, gas gauge and temp gauge drop to zero and nearly every possible light comes on. My DIC spews forth messages and I have no PRNDL. They REALLY need to get their act together on this

Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
Any update from AI? I returned a unit over 2 months ago. Been patiently waiting for the fix. The thing I liked about this adapter is not having to take apart the front dash.

I just called that number and spoke with Keith. He said: "We have a deal with a large local Hummer dealer (one of the biggest in the country) in Los Angeles. We have been loading all their 07's with it and none so far have came back with any issues yet, so we are having a hard time trying to finish these off. But we are almost done with it, we are really close. The current software is still 5.03" |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
Installed mine today, will take a little bit to understand all of the controls, but sounds great versus the old FM transmitter I used to use. My Hummer has the 6 disc CD, XM and Bose.
Jury is still out though, saw a couple of lights on the dash blink and one alarm sound today while out driving. Any more problems with the instrument cluster and I will go back to the FM transmitter. I have the version 5.03 as I'm sure most of you have. Will keep you posted as to my success or not. |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
The controls in "Auto" mode are a real pain, not very user friendly. Seem to change how they work each time the vehicle is started. Every 10 minutes or so, getting the traction control light and alarm on the dash.
Going to test it in "Manual" mode, hopefully with more success. Just about ready to junk the Nucleus before it really messes something up on my Hummer. Anything else out there without all of the glitches? |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
I would say mine will randomly light up or ding about 1 time per day, sometimes it happens so fast I barely notice, have been running my unit for about 2.5 months and it really doesnt bother me much. I love having the capability to run the ipod without using a FM modulator as well as having control from the head unit that I can definately live with a couple of lights quickly flashing on the dash from time to time.

Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
I like having the capability, too. Glitches like that are unacceptable, even if they are infrequent. Should not have to live with it at all.
AI knows the issues but refuse to deal with it based on the e-mails I have received from them. If they can not repair the problem, how can they say it is not going to hurt our vehicles. Maybe a class action lawsuit................. Sooner or later, the dealership they claim to be putting all of the units in will wearing them out |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
Just shared a few e-mails with Keith of AI. He expects the new update to be out soon, maybe next week.
I'm taking mine out in prep for the updated version. Was just out riding and all of my gauges went to zero. My old heart can't take it anymore....... |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
They have been saying this for awhile. I did find this interesting, I was checking with my local Sound Advice to see if they offered an Ipod adapter for the H2. They told me yes. So I asked what brand, and of course they said the AI Nucleus xi. I told the head of the audio dept. about my problem and the many others that have had problems. He contacted his AI rep in Miami and was told he had not heard of this, but if there was a problem the current version 5.03 would fix any problems that existed. Obviously I don't believe them since I had to return mine and so many others have as well. I'm very surprised it has not been fixed sooner since so many of us are looking to use this adapter.
Has anyone used any other adapters with better success? I know another custom shop in the Tampa Bay area said they use the Pac audio adapters. Not sure if they are good or not. |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
My friend is using the PAC adaptor and his ipod pauses every 20 minutes or so, requiring you to hit play again. I think I'd rather put up with my little random chime every 30 or so minutes.
But i do hope someone finds a better unit out there since i get great phone support from AI about how it doesn't work properly, unfortunately they dont know what to do AFTER they get these complaints... like fix the problem. |
Re: Ultimate iPod adaptor and 10Min install
You're right, they have been saying that for a while. At least AI answers their e-mail, whatever good that does. They told me I would have to return via Interface Solutions.
If it was just an occasional chime, I could probably live with it. I just can not take losing all of my gauges at once. The FM transmitter is looking better all of the time. |
