Oh thank you. That's much better. Why don't you add "I got drunker from the Glenmorangie" to make it a really thorough report. :notallthere:

Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......

I've read many whisky reviews and with only a few have I experienced what the taster experienced with that particular whisky.

They remind me of cigar reviews where there are about 8 key words that tasters use. Plus, you have to add it a few made-up expressions. :)

"At first I noticed a malty sweetness. There was some vanilla with a raisins, followed by a floral bouquet that resembled a citrusy sweetness." LOL.

I will say the I read a review of Macallan Cask Strength that pointed to cinammon and raisins and it was spot on.

You ever read reviews by Michael Lam? Every single review includes "malty sweetness".

As in " I plunged deep between Xena's thighs, seeking her malty sweetness."? :fdance:

Enjoy your whiskey now?

Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......

Tonight at dinner I ordered a Lagavulin 16yr, another Islay single malt. I think I can get into the smoky island malts. I have to say it's pretty close the Laphroaig.

If nothing else, it's worth drinking the Islay whisky because of the cool namesl

Laphroaig -- "La Froyg"

Lagavulin -- "Lahga VU lin"

:jump:

I try to say this with my best Scottish accent. Sometimes I use my Pakistani accent.

Last Thursday I was at Disney World and didn't have a chance to get my whisky.

In addition to two more bottles of Balvenie Doublewood I picked up for some buddies, I got these tonight for the Thursday Night Purchase.

I sampled the Highland Park.....and WOW. That is one awesome whisky for a less that $40/bottle and my local superstore. Friggin awesome whisky, from the Ornkey Isles.

I agree, it was pretty well done.

I like those good 'ol Jim Beam boys. They are all 300+ lbs and sit around doing nothing except drinking bourbon. :D :D :D

The should have focused a little more on scottish whisky though.

I had a couple Woodfords tonight. While I do like it, it didn't go that well with Sushi.

I used to drink that way too much when playing cards. Now it's mostly SoCo and lime... Until we run out and then it's back to Jager.:clapping:

soco and sprite is tasty, kinda like Ginger ale. To stay on subject I've tried some pricey single barrels but good ole Jameson :clapping: is my fail safe.

Well, having sampled a little too much of the Colorado Whisky you took to Moab, I'd say I had a big BANGINGINMYHEAD sensation and thedayafter taste stuck with me FOR EVER! ... :( But it was good at the time. :D I'm really glad I didn't sample Ken's moonshine. :D It was fun sitting by the pool trying to chase away my hangover with beer.....

Jagermeister is so 80's..... Just looking at that pic of the bottle makes me want to vomit.:( :OWNED:

Funny you should mention that... I had. the exact same last night at the Cantina Laredo in Fort Worth.

OK - no pic - forgot camera - which was just as well as we drank the entire bottle and wound up in some Karaoke palace belting out Sinatra and Beatles numbers with appalling gusto - god the embarrassment and shame - every shred of any dignity that I had left was stripped from me last night. The Korean government are offering me a military contract though - my voice could possibly be harnessed as a weapon of mass destruction.

Strange you mentioned it. Just picked up another bottle of the 12 year old stuff. It's enjoyable. Almost as good as Glenfiddich or Macallans.

It's the other whisky made in the ORKNEY isles (instead of Highland Park). It's a little more expensive. But I like the HP so much I thought I should give the Scapa a try too.
