Tell me about it, Rox!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: At least your rig broke down. I wheeled all day with a wicked headache and felt like crap. I was thinking we'd do a little "tasting" of the CO whisky. Little did I know 2 hours later the bottle would be empty and we'd be waking people up to steal their lighters. :giggling: |

Seagrams 7 with some fresh 7up and lots of ice...

I read this today and remembered that back then I drank Gin and grapefruit for a while.... So after school I stopped off and picked up a bottle of Tangueray for our dinner party! It turned out to be an 80's big hair band -- gin and juice -- dinner party! But now that everybody's gone it's looking more like a Knob Creek nightcap! Thanks for reminding me about the 80's Rox! |

CO Hummer,
You might want to check out this website: www.thewhiskyexchange.com, they have an amazing selection. They have quite a few that are hard to find. I have ordered many bottles from them and they are really quick about delivery.:beerchug: |
Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......
Interesting you mentioned that site. I saw that a few weeks ago. I was wondering if we could order from them here in the States.

Thanks. Good to know about delivery. I've seen the site before and it's 20% higher that what I normally pay per bottle. I have a monster liquor store nearby that carries ton of selection so I haven't gone the online route.....yet. :D |

Thursday night whiskey purchase time again. :D :D :D
It's been a while since I've been in town on a Thursday night so I had to get a few extra bottles. |
Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......
Basil Haydens was always a favorite of mine. Bakers is great stuff, but not as smooth as Basil's.
|
Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......

Agreed. Basil Haydens is the smoothest, lightest bourbon I've had yet. I love it. I cracked open the bottle of Baker's last night. It's OK, but nothing special to me. It sort of has the Wild Turkey taste that I'm not all that fond of. |

I've polished off bottles of the regular (10 or 12?) year, and the Portwood finish. But I haven't seen that one. What's the specs on it? How much aging? Price? |
Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......
Found it on Whisky Exchange. Sounds good.
Producer's Tasting Notes Aroma: Tempted by the aromas wafting through the door of a French patisserie, you step inside to discover a tangy tarte au citron with its crisp pastry case and smooth lemony cream topping. Next to it is with its fluffy sponginess and milky vanilla aroma is a Genoise cake decorate with crystallised lime and orange peel. You can smell plump juicy sultanas, dates, warming ginger, coconut and nutmeg. In the background, gingerbread is baking in a wood-burning oven Slip some water into the whisky to release the frothiness of lemon meringue pie and the rich aroma of baking fruitcake and warm gingerbread drizzled with cr?me anglaise Taste: The smooth, melting creaminess of lemon tart leaves the mouth full of citrus tang that gives way to cr?me caramel and zesty lime. This is replaced by warming ginger coupled with the mellow nutty flavours of nutmeg and toasted almonds that add warmth and chewiness that melts into oozing lemon meringue and melting honeycomb Finish: Languid and sweet with lemon zest, vanilla cream and delicate hints of ginger and nutmeg |

Re: In pursuit of the best WHISKEY......
Attention COHummer:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...QBvWc&refer=us You'll be able to buy the same whiskey George Washington made and sold. CP and I were at Mount Vernon last year during the $113 million renovation. What a beautiful place. If anyone is traveling nearby, you should stop in and check the place out. |
