Re: Great results from PCM for Less tuning . . .
ok, since this is the Thread That Won't Die, a question for PCMforless or F5 (or anyone else who wants to chime in on the topic).
For $149, I'm not overly concerned with the price of the new PCM, but I've started getting the dreaded 'rough idle' that seems to be the precursor to the head problem. Any thoughts on whether updating my PCM would exacerbate the problem or cause it to kick off the check engine light sooner? |

Re: Great results from PCM for Less tuning . . .
The clapping was for me, in case anyone is confuz ed.
You ain't gettin my money till you give me a deal:rant: . I would rather go spend more money on my own programing device and learn how to use it, rather that pay you 50 dollars more than I feel I should:rant: . I am very Taurus, ask my wife. Probably doesn't bother you, but that's how I roll. PS West be on my side, :shhh: ;) |

In my un educated guess, I would say DO NOT get the PCM update until your head problem has been fixed. You could loose your programming and have to pay another 50 bucks to get it reprogrammed, plus it would just be silly. :beerchug: Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken the PCM is now $199 not $149 unless you are getting a deal then I would be  if I didn't get it too cause in am a :crying: so says west |

Shipping charges are cheap (except downtime on the rig :( ) I'm not too concerned about the potential reflash, more concerned if it will have an impact on the engine if there is a head problem. Quote:
No special deal, I didn't realize the price was $199, I'm 99% sure it was $149 some time back. At $199 it's a little harder to swallow, will have to think about it for awhile... |

I paid almost sticker, and haven't looked back. Depending on where you are and when you bought your H3, you may or may not have gotten a good deal. I still see used H3s going for way higher than you would expect for any used car. As for this, $199 is a good price. The chip for my 325i was something like $299, and that was a chip which is way more of a PITA to install. Go get yourself a shark program and it might be $399 or $499. Buy your own programmer and you are looking at roughly the same cost. I can completely understand people challenging the effectiveness of these programs. It's justified to make sure this isn't modern electronic snakeoil and to look for dyno results and other potential issues. But to whine about the price, even at $199, shows a complete lack of understanding of aftermarket tuning and the costs that go with it. If you don't want to spend $199 (and I'm not sure I do yet, not because it's not a good deal but because I may not have the $$), then please shut up and stop wasting bandwidth on this forum.:fdance: :fdance: :fdance: |

And I got the headrest dvd's for $299 installed :fdance: :fdance: :giggling: :jump: And when I buy other vehicles, I only deal with the fleet department, not a regular salesperson. |

West :grouphug:
I didn't pay full price for my H3, much less.:excited: That is cool that they will reprogram it for you if it gets flashed by the dealer.:beerchug: If I didn't know there was a deal on the PCM before, It wouldn't bother me to pay full price, I am just OCD and can't get over it.:giggling: This thread just won't die. :jump: |

If you feel that the rough idle is coming than you should probally check in at the dealer soon. There is some factory "issues" with idle and deceleration tuning where the pedal is closed and the truck run a bit rough. We can clean that up quite a bit (part of our normal tune up) As far as the price guys. The special we ran was nothing to do with this website or that website. It was an introductary special to promote our new (not new anymore) H3 tuning. I'm sorry that you didn't see the special but being hostile is not going to get anywhere with us. In the meantime we will continue to make happy customers at our normal price of $199 unless we feel the need to run another special. There have been nothing but satisfied and happy customers coming from us. If you do not feel that extra $50 is worth it than fine do not buy it. Hell the gas mileage improvement alone will pay for the extra $50 in no time. |
