Remember ya'll, new roof rails and front A-pillar moldings are supposed to be out in May.
![]() I'll try and get a date if I can as to when Service Parts will have a supply of the new ones. (Course, I'm going to get mine ordered the day before. ![]() |
Hmmm... Whats different about the roof rails? I don't have'em and would like to get them at some point.

Every H3 has the roof rails. The are the black things that run from front to back, on each side, where the roof bows attached. Older style tended to crack where the A-pillar overlapped, and the A-pillar molding were not correct either, and didn't overlap all the way. |

Thanks for the update f5fstop! My dealer advised me the last time I was in that they will install the new ones as soon as they are available. I told them that I will probably know before they will.

f5fstop...Remember this one.."Pins and needles,needles and pins",it's a happy man that grins"(Ralph Kramden circa 1959)

My question is, what determines if they should be replaced?
I have a tiny crack that I stopped by stop drilling just ahead of it. Is there any other criteria to tell if they are defective? The 1/4" between the ends don't seem to be a problem, it is a Hummer after all. Best regards, Happy Jack ![]() |

They start out as tiny cracks, and the A-pillar should fit up to the roof rails. |
f5f stop..I plot your wished for location as a location outside the village of Yulin in China....or is my plotter off??
|
Will have to say, the plotter is off, I just double checked. China would have an E latitude. Yulin is approx. N41:01, E125:56'59 (: in place of degree symbol).

Thats what I get for trying to figure something out after a LONG day!! I GET IT now. I really SHOULD know better..after all I deal with this stuff EVERYDAY!!

Is this going to be recall or just case by case? I would like to see some photos if anybody has them.
|
I just took a look at mine and found a crack but i am not sure if this is what you guys are talking about.
here are some pics. If this is it, only one of the sides is cracked, by the looks of the other side do you thing they will replace both sides? Cracked side: ![]() The other, not cracked, side: ![]() |

Photos arent working now unless you go through a online sight. There a old thread about this use the find button plenty of pics there. I belive they are replacing both sides from bottom windshield to bottom back window and a letter will come in the mail. |
Unless they do a recall, there will be no notification by mail.

I thought they were going to do it like they did with the wiper pump.? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Subject: Service VME - Luggage Carrier Side Rail Cracks - keywords appearance crack molding roof trim #PIT3887 - (02/14/2006) Models: 2006 Hummer H3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. SERVICE VME This message is being issued due to numerous inquiries on the availability of the revised luggage carrier side rails to correct the cracking condition on the front corners. Unfortunately it will be mid May when both the side rails and revised 'A' pillar moldings will be available to correct not only the cracks, but provide a better fit between the two parts. Any side rails replaced with the current stock could crack again, so if a customer agrees, it is best to postpone the repair. I will provide another message with the revised part numbers just as soon as they are available. Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. The "I will provide" is from TAC to the dealer. If reported, your dealer should call or send a message. But I never wait for a dealer to contact me. |
