I was hoping for GPS coords for the site of the event today! I have access to many aerials of Oklahoma.

DennisAJC 06-27-2005 01:50 AM

Harley,

Sorry I can't help you, but buddy, that's a cool find. I'll be jerkin with this thing for hours! Thanks.

P.S. It might be posible to pinpoint by sight.

PARAGON 06-27-2005 01:53 AM

Look for it around here, I think.

Zoom in and scroll to the right.

Funny, Roxie and I both thought about marking waypoints AFTER we got back down LB. We had talked about marking the path from bottom to top so we could chart the elevation change vs. distance(also so we could see where she'd piddled on the way up).

I can see my house from here!

I wonder how many times it refreshes. Mabye I can see when I park the Hummer outside.

Better yet we can make a rock sign in Moab.

Harley 06-27-2005 02:04 AM

It doesn't refresh... the photos are fairly recent, though, my next door neighbor's Tahoe is in the drive on my home address..

Nice find, Paragon.

Lion's Back is the fin in the (horrible) rectangle.
A is the little shack where you pay your $10 to drive it or $ 2 bucks to walk it.(I didn't ask about peeing at the base of it.)

B is the base(launching pad) where you've got to nut up and climb the blackened 45 degree+ ramp.(Most bladders empty involuntarily here- which is why I took a precautionary wizz beforehand)

C is approximately where the carcass of the wrecked Toyota resides.

D is where Team Pewter Power turned around, celebrated and started back down.

Take the road to the east before you get to the parking lot Alec mention and there is another rock with what looks like rubber on top on the inside of the curve. Any one know what that is?

Harley 06-27-2005 02:19 AM

now that is some cool ****... I'm ready for October... the wife is interested....

Harley 06-27-2005 02:21 AM

Wait, I take that back, I'm Pewter, too....

KenP 06-27-2005 02:27 AM

Looks flat as a pancake. I've got to show this to the wife. She'll definitely let me climb it now.

That's really cool following it.

DRTYFN 06-27-2005 02:37 AM

Ok, I found Black Hole. Was it before or after Hell's Gate & the Escalator?

KenP 06-27-2005 02:38 AM

Here are some coordinates:
http://www.4x4now.com/33jshr.htm

This site also says Hell's Revenge rates a 4+:

After Hell's gate and before the Escalator </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Can you give a link to those. Having a hard time following the trails when they split.

I couldn't find either of them. I want to enlarge & frame the Escalator(maybe sign it, too.)

I'm going this way next time. I hate u-turns.

ShaggyX 06-27-2005 03:25 AM

Dennis...I have walked that part of Lion's back. You do Not want to go that way. I would rather turn around without a spotter than try to keep going.

DRTYFN 06-27-2005 04:08 AM

NO ****!!!! I wouldn't even think of going that way. I've got video of it and it looks hairy!!! Creepy little ledge that's tilted towards a nice 500 foot drop off. Uhh uhhhh, NO WAY!!!!(bitches)

DennisAJC 06-27-2005 04:10 AM

Shaggs,

You can be quite anal sometimes.

Is Black Hole the same as the Hot Tub? It was right before escalator at the top of the hill.

Great pics guys!

No, Black Hole is where we drove up that tight little ledge with the drop off on the left. Remember the one that tilted slightly towards the ledge? The one that still gives my butthole phantom pains.
