we should all hire midgets and have them guard our rides from the roof with Mini 14's.....

You could try this but you might get a bunch of scratches

H2_SUT_SC 10-14-2005 04:10 PM

I'd go with a Clifford or Viper alarm that pages you when it goes off.

I have mine installed with paging ability, starter kill, motion sensor, tilt sensor (for rims), impact sensor and perimeter sensor. It also has a hidden back up siren with a back up battery in case they cut the first. One thing you can add is a very high dB siren inside the cabin. One that you can't stand to even be in the car when it's going off. I've got kids and a wife that can barely figure out the alarm so that's a no go for me.

H2_SUT_SC 10-14-2005 04:11 PM

I should also add that DEI is the maker of both Clifford and Viper so you can't go wrong. I've also got autostart on it.

I've heard a lot of problems with the Autopage alarms on H2's.

HummerNewbie 10-14-2005 04:14 PM

We put one of those high dB sirens in a buddies truck years ago and it worked. His truck go broken into and nothing was stolen.

This alarm will call your cell phone and give you the street address of where your vehicle is at.

redbulljunkie67 10-14-2005 06:21 PM

I have the Viper as well I also added a push button like the doors have to the hood and to the spare tire carrier.

H2Singh 10-14-2005 06:26 PM

How much can I expect to spend on either the Clifford or Viper?

I think with all the options I did (I forgot to add it rolls the windows up and down with one touch) it was close to $1k installed.

HUMMERcustoms.com/TAZ 10-15-2005 01:14 AM

Both the Viper and Clifford are good kits. i'm trying to decide which one. At one time before Clifford got out of the market for a while You could not beat the Clifford. i do not know if they came back as strong as they were or not.
You will pay for each option You want. It comes with basic stuff but, to get where You would really like to be will run the 1K easily.
Whcih ever one We use We are going to add shock to the door handles. Will add verbal and warn they are getting to close and if they proceed they will get an electrical shock. I will have siren also. We are redesigning a TAZER to deliver the jolt that will not cause any damage except make them PISS their shoes full. Hoping the warning works but, if they press it they will be believers. Once We get it worked out I will be glad to give for free all the details so You can make the adjustments to Yours. You could do it with less priced alarms if it had verbal module.
I just know I feel bad For Black05 and some others and I'm just going to try something even if it sems extreme but, I have way to much sponsor money invested in the Girl to not be really proactive about theft right away.
If anyone comes up with more alarm choice please let usknow.

Good point about the potential liabiity. Do that in Nevada and you'd better have verbal warnings in at least two languages. Even then, we have so many ambulance chasers it's almost a lock you'd get sued, even if someone got zapped while trying to jack your ride.

But hey, that's nothing compared to the anti-carjack flamethrower. Seen that yet? Google found this page and the video is something to see.

H2Singh 10-15-2005 02:54 AM

that's a great video, where they trying to give her a light

Oh, she got a light alright!

HUMMERcustoms.com/TAZ 10-15-2005 06:53 AM

Yeaah could be trouble but, We have hashed out different ways of it going down and it will have a verbal warning and We though about small warning label with it all saying There is no need for You to be near this vehicle it is locked and secured by the owner so no one but, Owner has access. I have several cousin lawyers and they are looking into it. BUt it would not hrt them just try to scare them. Like a 9 volt to the tongue type feeling.
Then you could have the retaliation of things being thrown but, I look at it like they going to tear it up anyway to steal stuff.

Hey any lawyers please jump in on this and let us know what could happen. I may make this and add it to My Website.

Honestly for MYself I'm going to take the risk and deal with consequences later. I'm just sick of these low life turds making a living off hard working people living.

Dan 10-15-2005 05:00 PM

Someone say "bang"?

HUMMERcustoms.com/TAZ 10-15-2005 11:29 PM

Dan what is that chic saying? Her mouth is moving so fast and bobs bouncing so much You cannot read her lips? What is She so wound up about. You did something to mess with her didn't You?
Do not know why it matters but, just been wondering last week or so.

I have been wondering the same thing

Dan 10-16-2005 10:32 AM

"I want to BANG DAN!"

Actually, I have no idea...

OK, I am a lawyer in Texas and this is my answer to your question on liability. You are essentially creating a booby-trap with the shock thingy. This is not allowed. Although not lethal, it is like booby trapping your house with a shotgun rigged to go off if burglars break in. A good thought but not a wise move.

Guess that means the flamethrower gizmo is out of the question, eh?

Good advice.

ratesguy 10-17-2005 07:20 PM

I hear the flame thrower is legal in South Africa as a deterrent to carjackings.

H2_SUT_SC 10-17-2005 07:23 PM

I have the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5. Like I said before Viper and Clifford are both made by DEI so it's essentially the same.

http://www.clifford.com/matrix/responder/default.asp

You can view the options from that page.

I also have the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 it is a GREAT alarm it has all the bells and whistles including Remote Start. It has the longest range on the market with the window antenna reciever. I installed it last weekend I have the window modules for remote window roll up and vent but I am not sure if DEI has an interface yet for the 06's. If anyone has any news regarding this please let me know!!!
Thanks

id go with the viper. but every lil fancy gadget you add cost more money. hey taz i have always had this idea tell me if its possable. when your alarm goes off something will call your cell phone and let you hear whats goin on inside the car that way if your shopin or something you wont be fooled by a page for nothing cuzz you would be able to hear everything. even better if you could talk back to them. haha im commin with my 9mm f-ers ya better run.

HummerNewbie 10-25-2005 08:54 PM

Anything is possible, just depends on how much you are willing to spend. I think it would be pretty cool.

Yes, it's definitely possible. I remember reading about a Jeep Cherokee that had that done, and that was back in 92 or 93 so I guarantee you can get that now.

My next project when I get time will be installing video cameras and having it start recording to a DVR once the proximity sensor goes off. Then possibly uploading the mpeg's via wireless link to a remote server. I'm meeting with a few top guys from DEI in a week or so and will get this into the planning stage.

DeBest - I'll also ask the DEI boys about the 06 interface on your alarm.

H2-SUT-SC i would really appreciate it if you can check with DEI about the interface for the windows, I got everything to work with the exception of the windows. With the stock global windows we could not get it to work. I'll be interested in hearing what they suggest as a fix for that.

MotorsportsAuthority aka Dragon 10-26-2005 04:34 AM

imo, it really doesn't matter what alarm you get, it has to just be reliable. the statistics say that if a burgler cannot disable the alarm within 30 seconds they will usually walk away. but here's what happens: they can tag team.

1 person: breaks glass and pops hood
2 person: cuts horn

done. then they have all the time they need to do whatever. most places do a quick and cheap install where anyone and everyone would see the brain and experienced car theives are educated enough with car alarms that they're able to bypass these.

in addition, most people don't look around anymore (until it gets annoying) when a car alarm goes off because people set them off on accident so often that if it turns off quick enough it must have been the owner's mistake.

so when installing, make sure the alarm horn is VERY hard to get to, especially the wires to it. if you can make it them look factory, the better you'd be. also, have a backup battery or power source for the horn so if they happen to cut the wire to it, it will still honk/sound. third, hide that brain waaaaaaaaay up in the vehicle or behind the center console. the only pain is that you'll have to take out your shifter, shifter surround, armrest, and armrest surround just to take off the center console.

hope that helps. alarms are great if you have additional safeguards. normal installations anymore are useless since theives are always learning new tricks.

HUMMERcustoms.com/TAZ 10-27-2005 12:51 AM

This is why My partner Dragon gets to figure out how he is going to install my alarm. I'm going to shock somebody with mine. Most are not smart enough to go legal and if they do I get to press charges because they need to prove why they were trying to get in. We can see who finishs first or out of money last. I'm tired of the crud balls and I'll take my fine and set it up again.
Get busy after Vegas Dragon
