I am thinking of getting one of these AM General products. My rig is getting a little too small to ride around in.

Nice!
|
You will love it, I have one on the ranch although it has a firetruck body on it....

With you being from Cali, you don't know how funny that sounds. You bought your own 6X6 fire truck to make sure the fires don't get the ranch?
![]() Do you have the 5 ton or 2.5 ton? Who is the manufacturer Kaiser or AM General or one of the others? Does yours have the winch on it? |

It was one of the original firetrucks in the valley up there. Its the 5 ton. Last I recall when I was tromping through all the old broken junk I seem to recall the kaiser name. I have to go back up there next week and will get some pics of the farmyard vehicle cemetary. http://www.msnusers.com/wheeling |
I think one of those would be better for my commute to work, its less likly to get bothered in the parking lot, and will never be lost in a crowd.

had a good time watching the Natn'l Guard playing in the mud at Azusa a few months back. Deffinately a bad ass truck that could squash me like a bug.

That's the kind of rig I need to drive around in Phoenix, they keep trying to run me off of the road in my H2, I guess the Sunset Orange does not stand out in traffic.

I don't think it has anytrhing to do with your H2, everybody just drives like a fool in Phoenix. Hell I usually drive an F-250 or a Merc E500 when I am there and they try to kill me all day long.

I don't like gamagoats. I want a 5 ton 6x6 with the big hydraulic winch. I got some playing I need to do with it. And for 4 or 5K and another 1K to fix up, they make a very cool toy to play with.

There's a local outdoor outfitters here called JAXX that usually has 2 or 3 - 6x6 5 tons for sale. Sometimes it's the 2.5 ton they have, but still with the 5 ton hood, etc. They cycle through several in a few month period. Most of them get sold to back water places up in Wyoming for use on farms or real cheapo firetrucks.
|
We had 6X6 back in 70's and a Willis Jeep. I Love those rigs. I was 20 something and used the Willy's to run rice fields, before 3 wheelers. That or I used a dirt bike. I was never able to get Will's stuck. 6X6 hauled a huge water tank for spray rigs. PARAGON You would have a blast with the 6X6. It is not easy to drive or at east ours wasn't.

Makes H2 look small.

if you want the ultimate off road vehicle it would be the Hemmt. It is am 8x8 all wheel drive, front four steering. Has a 5 ton front winch, a 10 ton crane on the back. It will out run everything in the military. It's off road capabality is unbeleivable. As a Cav Troop commander we have a tendancy to, shall we say "stick" a few of our hummers. The HEMMT have yanked more than a few or our tow hooks right off if it was a little too stuck. It is made my OSHKOSH. If you are going to wish big, wish real big
|
another attempt at posting the hemmt pic, you may need to find a pic your self
|
You probably mean HEMTT
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I wonder how much those shackles weigh?
![]() |
In Germany I once saw an accident where a HEMTT rear-ended a delivery truck. Not a scratch on the HEMTT. The back of the delivery truck was smooshed at a perfect 45 degree angle.
![]() HEMTT's rock. ![]() |
That would be it. even better are the up armored ones, look like something out of MAD MAX. Best riding vehicle in the Army. Does everything

Here's a couple of pictures of uparmored hemmits from my tour in Iraq.
Here's one with the armor kit: ![]() Here's a couple with "hill billy" armor. We ripped the windows out and replaced them with a chunk of steel. By the end of the deployment we finally got armor kits for all our Hemmits and PLS's. ![]() This is a 5 ton with an armor kit. ![]() And finally here's an LMTV with hill billy armor (I drove it 4 days from Kuwait like that.) That's my driver and gunner. ![]() And one with an armor kit. ![]() |
Very cool pics TL!

We know that thing will go up #5 in Tellico too right! Does even better coming down with a bunch of Hummers in front of it backing down the trail
![]() Does that grill look at all familiar CP? ![]() |
All too familiar.
![]() It was a true test- back down a mountain trail of boulders, loved ones in your path with a 5 ton and a mission trailing you 5 feet down after you. ![]() |
