Picked it up from Costco today. $120CAN($70US).
Figured with winter coming, this will keep the salt/rust problem at bay.

Dennis,

More details, more details...

I've been debating on this product as a way to clean off the mud after wheeling. Is it really strong enough - or is it somewhere between a garden hose and the carwash?

What's your opinion?

Steve R 10-14-2003 02:01 AM

I've got the very same model...so do many guys in my club.

YES, it's a good thing in the right way. It will come with 2 nozzles....the 360-degree pencil thingy will blast the mud off, but be careful not to let it get too close to the paint. I use mine everytime I come back from off-roading. I think I bring home about 1 pint of dirt from each place I wheel!

DennisAJC 10-14-2003 02:10 AM

It's about as powerful as our local power wash (just finished washing my baby). It also depends on your home water pressure, it helps. I luuuuuv it! It peels the dirt right off! I think any more than 1500psi and it will peel the paint. It'll save you the pain of looking for change and line ups at the carwash.

My driveway has a strange runoff and all the mud started to pool on the street pissing off my Benz loving neighbours.

It said on the box...Never point at your face when in use. LOL. I guess it's ok if you have two faces(1 for spare ).

Mine is a large 13hp w/ 3000psi and 4+gpm.
I don't have any trouble w/ paint (don't get real close and try to stay perpendicular to the surface) but u really have to watch rubber hoses.
It WILL cut a hose or put a hole in it if too close.
After the last HH I needed that much pressure because the mud had grass and weeds in it.
The bottom side looked like it could use a weed-eater instead.
The extra pressure and flow just ripped the junk out of there.

The Costco Electrics work great! After a season of wheeling, I use mine to clean up for a winter of wrenching. Haveing the truck clean makes it so much nicer.

They work ok for other chores, but not as good as a gas one does for around the yard and stuff

I prefer going to the Car Wash. This way I don't have to clean up all the crap I wash off my truck.

I like the car wash too but the lineups suck.

Much rather take my time at home.

2700psi? Holy ****!

Oh yeah, back when I was working painting houses in high school, I decided to use the 3000psi washer on my car. Took the paint right off the trunk lid down to the primer. And that was with the fan tip!

JSA_3 10-15-2003 08:00 PM

Where can these things be had??

(i.e. Home Depot, Lowes etc etc)

DennisAJC 10-15-2003 08:05 PM

Home Depot or Costco..
On second thought, might as well get the 2000psi. More mabye better in the future uses.

I have one similar but the same manufacturer. A word of advice though. If you are going to wash the underside of the truck use a sprinkler that goes from down to up to down. I am not sure what they are called. Just leave it under there and move it from time to time when you notice that the water looks clean. This really cleans the truck really well and gives you time to do other things.

Been usin' a karcher for our cars / company trucks for about 10 years. Works perfect. But ours is way bigger. Comes with hot water high pressure steam.
