I think some here have raved about the Husky liners. I have the SMA seat covers on the rear seats. I do not like them for comfort, but they certainly work. Especially with kids. Don't know about dogs, though.

My dogs ride in kennels. They do go everywhere with me, but I have seen what happens to dogs in accidents when they are not contained. Plus when it's wet or muddy out, everything is contained in the plastic kennels safely behind the rear seats.
My 2 cents!

we have 2 Labs who swim and get muddy paws most of the time.

check out http://www.wetokole.com/ for seat covers. we have one for the rear seat and it has lasted for 3 years now. the leather underneath is perfect.

People who take there animals everywhere with them scare me, like a security blanket or something. Try leaving the dogs outside in the back yard where they belong. Dogs do not belong in the house or in automobiles for any reason. If they have to go to the vet you borrow a truck and throw them in the back. Not going to let some animal tear up a 50K+ vehicle.

HummerLvr 03-08-2004 10:09 PM

There is no way I would leave my babies outside! They are the perfect asset to my H2. Nothing says lovin' like a girl, her dogs and her Hummer!

No not really a dog person, or animal person for that fact of the matter. But if I did have a dog he would live outside in a little dog house, and eat dog food. Like dogs do.

My "security blanket" will tear a 50K+ hole out of your butt if you mess with my wife or daughter, or more importantly my H2. It's fun watching people walk up to the rig when the windows are half down and get a face full of teeth before they are even 10 feet from it.

The 90lb blanket sleeps in the bed with my wife and me also.

Livin\' Large 03-08-2004 10:19 PM

Na kids are ok, but best to be seen and not heard.

HummerLvr 03-08-2004 10:21 PM

Thank God mine are nice. At 135lbs and 121lbs (he is 10 months old) they could do a lot of damage if they wanted to.

No that is not me. I do not like animals but that is why too extreme. That guy should be burned just like those dogs were. That would teach him.

HHummer 03-09-2004 12:28 AM

I love "dog alarms." You innocently park your vehicle in the lot and as you get out a barking rat goes berserk in the car next to you. If you recover from the hear attack, then the fun begins with 'resetting the alarm.' Lightly rapping on the side glass with your knuckles will cause the 'barking alarm' to go absolutely nuts from the dash to the seats to the rear deck. In about 30 seconds the seat fabric is shredded into an airborne mist. Always wonder of mommy and daddy raised the kids this well?

PARAGON 03-09-2004 12:48 AM

Mine's far from being a rat and never leaves her spot in the H2 unless she is told to. By the way, her bite is definitely worse than her bark.

PARAGON 03-09-2004 12:55 AM

They stopped a future serial killer!

OldHiker 03-09-2004 01:39 AM

Back to the subject of having dogs or any animals in the car. Just like seat belts, crates or kennels will save the animals from harm in the event of a sudden stop or crash.

I have 2 rotty's that only travel with me in these crates. The thought of me stopping suddenly and them flying towards me (they each weigh about 120lbs), is enough for me to secure them in this manner. Do you allow your children to roam about without seatbelts? My dogs can leap from the ground directly into a crate that is at the tailgate. As a matter of fact, if they see they tailgate open, they will think they are going for a ride and jump right in.

As far as to where they belong, why would you have a dog and then keep him tied up outside. Unless, of course, you do that to your kids to. My dogs are part of my family and are treated as such.

Just my 2 cents.

PARAGON 03-09-2004 02:01 AM

The 40 portion of my rear seat stays folded and there is a "pillow" for my GS to stay on. She stays in that spot all of the time. My 3 year old is buckled in her car seat on the other side.

On this subject, about 10 years ago my wife and I were traveling in our '77 Ford farm truck and had our black lab, BET, riding in the bed of the truck like she always does. We were on a highway going about 50mph when a 2 1/2 ton AM General 10 wheel drive troop transport cleaned my clock.

A '77 Ford 3/4 ton pickup was very well made and a very heavy vehicle. We hit so hard that I was pinned to the seat by the steering wheel and the deuce and a half's front bumper was in the dash about 2 feet from me.

My lab stayed in the back of the truck during and after the crash, the whole time they were cutting me out and until my mother-in-law made it there to take her to the vet to get her checked. She had nothing wrong with her and the vet said he could find no sore spots. My wife and I, on the other hand were a little worse for the wear and I understand they had to use a large wrecker to pull the vehicles apart.

All of that and and there was not a scratch on the duece and a half, even on the bumper where it was lodged in my dash.

Large,
Feel free to jump in all threads and post meaningless "I don't like what you like" messages. Adds a lot of value to the forum.

Livin\' Large 03-09-2004 07:46 PM

CO,
right.

It is called an opinion, every heard of that?

LasVegas 01-18-2005 04:05 AM

And oh yes. I agree. Never worry about my property or family. They might kill her before she gets to them but they better not miss or they're in deep sh*t. Fears nothing! And they live WITH us....not in the damn back yard.
