I was looking at the new Hummer site and the colors for 04. When I selected sage green, it came up as saying it wasnt going to be a color option. Then I selected the Copper toned orange (the exact name I forgot) it comes up at the same notification. I was reading a post saying that red wasnt going to be a option but it didnt say this on the site. I have only seen one green H2 (the first H2 i saw) but never a orange one. I am guessing these colors werent very popular. Whats your take on this?

We have heard the same thing for awhile. I love my Orange, but I agree that green and orange were pretty rare. I personally think that the Orange is really pretty, but it's all about the numbers for GM.
|
I agree with argonaut.
Take at look at the Sunset Orange Metallic in the sunshine, in person before you make up your mind. When I bought mine, I asked my family what color I should get and my 9 year old son said orange. I said I don't think so, until I saw one. Then none of the other colors looked as good to me. I have not regretted it since. |
I was planning on either the Pewter or Black. But after a couple visits to the dealer, I kept being drawn to the Orange.
Kinda glad they are discontinuing the Orange - keeps my a choice a bit rarer. Help Computers www.helpcomputers.net 720-205-HELP |

I picked the orange finally after a long deliberation. Depending on the light...it appears brown, red, orange, bronze, yellow....oops...not yellow!
![]() Now we oranges have a very limited H2 version...good or bad? Dan??? I guess you were planning to get an Orange SUT? ![]() Ric OMAHOG/IHOG Hum2@cox.net |
i think the orange looks sharp.. too bad it is being discontinued.. I never did like the green... unaslob

Actually, I was you smart ass!
Even if it was staying, I think I'd probably opt for one of the other colors though. Don't get me wrong, the orange is awesome, but I may have changed my mind ![]() Have to take a closer look at that new tan color too... - Dan ------------------------------------------------- SUT on order 12/02. 11 months down, 7 to go! ------------------------------------------------- |
I almost got green. I have always been surprised that green was an unpopular color. Some say because it looks too military, which I can see. Green and orange will now be special colors as they get increasingly rare in proportion.
|
By the way, I think dropping the 2 colors bodes well for the theory that 2004 will be a short-run model year. Why no new colors? Why is there nothing new in the 2004? We shall see.
|
Actually, it was reported in another thread that "Victory Red" will be a new color available for order in December 2003.

I saw that, didn't it imply that this was a "limited edition" color? I don't know why they'd have 2 shades of red for a model year with relatively few colors overall.

The desert sand color is really cool. It looks really sharp on the H1's aswell. I didn't see it on the H2 build section. The orange is/was a great color. If the desert sand color wasn't available and I would be buying an SUT, I have no idea what color I would choose. Honestly why does a car company offer the white color. Please take no offense to this but it is so dirty and boring.

here in Tulsa, OK white is the most common color on all vehicles. it gets HOT in the Summer and the white does help reflect some of that heat off of the vehicle.
agree though its kinda boring, yet, don't think it matters what color a H2 is - its anything but boring! ![]() |
I have an orange one and I love my color. In PA the orange is popular. There are four orange ones running around my little part of the world. There are Hummers all over the place now. I get all kinds of people waving to me and flashing their lights that I do not know. They think it the "other guy" with the orange Hummer. Funny thing is that they say the same things. Orange is where it's at. I like black too but it too hard to keep clean.

Orange and green were my last choices that I was looking for when I bought mine... unfortunately GM is just a moneymakingmachine and they will pull anything that's not turning over like they want it too-- but to have an original color was my first priority-- mine is white (w/ all black trim). That's probably painfully boring and common in some areas but I've only seen one other white one in my travels over the last year, which in addition to loving a white ride, makes white the color that I'd buy again if mine turned up missing or something. But a rare color is very cool because you don't want every dork and dick in town having the same color---- =individuality.
If green and orange were the only colors that I wasn't seeing in my area I'd be dead-set on those, because frankly they are both sweet-as-hell. I think that GM calls the orange one "red" which turns off the folks wanting a red H2 off immediately. Bottom line is that some computer geek probably has been doing some research and sees that green and "red" are the colors in most abundance of the remaining '03's sitting on lots unsold. So the big GM machine will eliminate them. Makes me interested in owning a "red" or green one!!! Most importantly, the H2 just rocks, regardless of its color!!! gasman |

you are right. Sorry for the mis-info.

I was under the impression that they are also adding a "Blue" to the 04 colors. At least this is what the local dealer said.. ?

Dan:
I was not trying to be a SA...sorry! But until recently, orange is the only color I've seen on an SUT.....maybe the pewter too. Maybe they are going to keep the orange for the SUT...it does look great! Ric OMAHOG/IHOG Hum2@cox.net |
Mike -- the blue color will probably be called "blue ice" and will be very much like a charcoal blue, more charcoal than blue actually. I happened to talk with the head of marketing of Hummer and he told me this so I think this is reliable. Supposed to come out "in 2004" and I think he meant in the 2005 model.

Stealth Grey - last I heard.....

I really don't like white cars. That said, the white H2 looks cool. Almost like a star wars storm trooper or something.

Stealth Grey - last I heard..... I think Dan is right. Though it is Stealth Grey Metallic to be exact. I believe this is the color that is on the SUT from the HUMMER web site. Also heard about another color called Desert Sand that will come on the 2005 model ('04 calender year) If I'm not back in five minutes... wait longer! |
I just took delivery of my ORANGE 04. I guess I must have got the last can of paint? NOT!

great comparison argo! storm trooper/hummer yea!
Bone stock but dreamin! |
Just look at the pictures of the SUT on hummer.com - you can see the potential new Blue color - that is hot.
I agree that 2004 will be a short model year. On the site it mentions that the SUT will be available late spring/early summer for a limited production run. That means the 2005 models should follow closely and align the SUV and SUT model years. Hoepfully there will be good things coming in 2005... |
