Where did that come from? The bed cover?

Rubber pieces are stuck on with two-sided foam tape.
|
Ok, either mine are gone, or I never had those. Let me go out and look again...
brb Yeah - I do not have them, never did. Were those things glued on? I wonder if it is part of the bed cover kit. |
Don't know what to think about that VT. Maybe the pieces are part of the cover kit but that doesn't make sense. Seems to me you'd need them more without the cover? Dunno.
They aren't glued on, they're stuck on with tape, which you can see on the left edge of the rubber piece in the pic above. |

WTF!
Well you have a cover too right Pete? Anyone else have these things? |
They come with the taneau cover. I took mine off.
|
YAY!
I am not missing anything then! ![]() |
Never had them either???
|
I have tyhem on mine too. I do have the cover too. BUt mine don't seem to be loose or want to come off. Quit making your SUT bed into a sand box Rod, and this crap will stay on!

Good luck! |
after you take it off the truck, feel free to FedEx it to me!

Well, i spent about 1.5 hrs taking off one side. It can be done but it will take a few hours to take off and put back on.
Has anybody tried to mount a rack on the cover? I am thinking that might be a better alternative to trying to take it off. I saw what Tim did but I was thinking more like a roof rack type. |

You're thinking something a bit deeper? Like this? If yes then I imagine Gobi would be happy to make a deeper on for you. I searched a good while for a "basket" type rack to put on the back but none fit, let alone as well as Gobi's. |
I havent found a roof rack that works as well as my Gobi so I can imagie that they would have the best bed rack too....

So why do the SUTs with tonneau covers have these rubber pieces? To keep the odor of the dead bodies I carry from permeating the cab?
Just kidding obviously, but I wonder why they are there? |
I wonder the same thing...seems like they would have no value.

In the bottom of the bed are four drain holes that let water out and dirt in. With the cover, that dirt has basically nowhere to go and maybe, just maybe, there's a slight increase in pressure inside the bed while moving, which forces dust back out the drain holes and through the midgate sides if that area isn't covered. I did notice during our last off-road adventure (while missing the right side rubber flap) the cab had a lot more dust in it. Previous runs (when the rubber piece was in place) there was only a small amount of dust. All that hallucinating and it's not even 10 a.m. ![]() |
That could be...I would think that the seal on the mid-gate would be enough...maybe not!
|
Last night when I opened the back of my truck, there it was, one of those flaps lying on the bottom of the bed. Gonna have to get the black silcone out again. lol
|
just take it out. you know you wanna!
Rodster was kidding about the dust. ![]() |
I found out that the SUTs that have those flaps also have the re-mapped fuel injection giving you 50 more horsepower than the other SUTs, so I'm going to remount the flap so when people see it, they know mine is the better one.

You sound like my wife telling me what I think and all. ![]() TXSUT -- I got the same memo today from GM tech center but really, I don't think it's the flaps. It's the enhanced aerodynamic properties of the truck as a result of the cover, which includes the flaps. ![]() |
Ah, now that makes more sense.

Allegedly, they are a supplemental add on for the tonneau cover to keep moisture out if you hose out the back. The plastic pieces are stick on and a special adhesive promoter must be applied when they are installed or they will all fall down!! I think Hummer released the extra stickum after they had complaints of falling flubber errrr, I mean rubber.

you guys were totally holding out on the HP info. CRAP.
I imagine when I get my cover...wait, I mean, when I buy a cover, and it comes in. I will NOT put those stickon things on my truck. - - - unless I can get them in CHROME! ![]() |
