I don't know, she looks nice right now. Doing the hood vent might be over the top or she will look good. hard to say.

The more I see your grill, the more I like it. I think the hood piece is more or less a wash.... its already black, so your just adding some texture. Its more of a "black bling" factor and your supposed to be anti-bling ;)

Looks real good Neo. I didn't think it would be noticable, but even in the pictures it looks great. Probably even better in person.

Re: Line-X for hood plate

Hey Neo! It looks great. Nice job! :D

So far I've only done the grill, but the emblems are next and then the wheels. I don't think there's any blingyness remaining after that.

As far as the Duplicolor vs. Line-X thing goes... Well, I have a few comments:
  • I personally prefer the finish/look of the Duplicolor over the Line-X
  • The Duplicolor finish matches the OE bumper finish more closely
  • The Line-X is tougher without a doubt. There is NO question of this. After the Paragon trip I found some places that had chipped and will need touch-ups. I have a feeling that this will always be the case and I can live with that. At least for now.

NEO... You sir have inspired me... I am going to blatantly copy your ideas and do the same to my yellow rig...

question tho... How do I get the grill and hood plate off? :p

thanx for askin mark , the hood plate is easiest so i will explain it first .

open the hood and look near the center underneath you will see three tabs sticking thru the inside . use a pair of pliers to push those three up thru the hood . you only have access to three but there are five . start at the corner left or right but closest to the windshield get your hand under the platic and lift firmly . the 3 you pushed up and the 2 others will pop out . there are 5 more along the front leading edge , once the back is free get your hand under the plastic and push up and those will pop free . remove any rings on your fingers before starting so you wont damage the hood paint . to put back just line up the 10 tabs with the slots and tap down and it clicks back into place .

the grille is a bit more work but not too bad . there are four bolts that you need to loosen if you are facing the front of the truck you can see two with the hood closed , to see the other two the hood has to be open . once those four are loose you need to look over the front of engine compartment back towards the front you are looking at back of grille , you will see 2 nuts one on each end they are silver loosen those and remove nuts . once those six bolts and nuts are removed you are ready to start at one end just like hood plate pull firmly . there are 2 clips on each end so you have to pop out the ones on one side then the other it is easy with 2 people one can hold the other end after you pop out the clips . dont worrie about breaking them just pull straight and firm and the retainer clips pop right out . to replace just pop in the clips , that holds it in place and then replace the 6 bolts and nuts . the clips are molded into the plastic on the grille and hood plate so mask them off before spraying or tell the line-x guy to tape them for you . i had to clean up one of my clips because the missed it when masking a razor knife is great for cleaning up any gobs on the clips .

i hope this helps :D check out the adios bling thread it has some of the same info but i was posting as i was doing it here you go

Re: Line-X for hood plate

I've always loved the look of the Line-X grill! Being in NY where they use salt in the winter like it's free:mad: , I wonder if Line-X would help prevent salt damage. Although grill isn't metal is it?

NEOCON1 06-09-2006 03:33 AM

Re: Line-X for hood plate

hey Hippy , the grille is just plastic with fake chrome stuff on it , so no real corrosion benefit . But it still looks cool :D
