Re: 4th of July...

My original plan was to go camping off in the middle of nowhere, drink a lot, and spend a week backpacking.

Now, it's a long drive Saturday for some California wheeling on Sunday and Tuesday, long drive out to the Lost Hills in eastern Idaho on Wednesday, then backpack in and spend 3 days camping/hiking, then hop in the H3 and drive back to Portland. Should be about 3k miles total, with plenty of drinking, wheeling, drinking, camping, drinking, and backpacking, in that order...

The in-laws are flying in from NH and we are going to take them down to Pearl harbor and watch the fireworks display from the Arizona Memorial.

Plans are not firm for the weekend, but I will watch a large fireworks show from my deck on the 4th.

Happy 4th to all !

Sitting by the front window, repeatedly calling the cops on the neighbors. We're under severe drought restrictions and fireworks are banned in city limits, but these idiots set them off every year. First year we were here, they set our house on fire. $2000 fine for illegal possession, I am SO looking forward to that.

No fireworks this year, but hopefully I'll get to spend some time out with friends. I was going to the beach, but that's been pushed back to the end of the month.

I'm heading to the lake and then to LoLo's on the 4th for hamburger cook-out where we will wait to get called out because some fool set a grass fire with fireworks (despite the fact that we are under a burn ban and fireworks are outlawed). At fires like that, I wish we could set up at the perimeter of that person's land only protecting his neighbors' property from going up in flames as a result of his ignorance!

I bought fireworks the other day the first time since moving to Florida. So im looking at this $75box full of fireworks ask the girl working if it has good one and she says its on of the better ones. Get home only to find out they suck--apparently its illegal in Florida to have fireworks leave the ground and pop. Guess i need to go to bama and get some new ones. So if you want fireworks that sit on the ground and spit out pretty little colors and make little to know noise come to Florida....we have lots of em:mad:

Re: 4th of July...

I forgot I'm off that evening. No fireworks for me. I'm taking the dog for a ride away from the noise. Yup she's afraid of fireworks. Therre's nothing like 50 lbs of shivering dog trying to climb on you to discourage fire works enjoyment.
So we'll take a nice quiet ride in the mountains.

Poor thing I've had to drug her for the last three evenings as it is. Doesn't work completely but at least it takes the edge off. Of course then you have a stoned dog just stairing at you. Kind of funny.

A stoned dog is funnier than a stoned lizard.;)

We are going to a friends for a bbq. :)

I really just want to drink beer and blow stuff up. So I might get a headache at the party and have to head home.;)

It's only truly acceptable once a year, to pass it up would be simply ludicrous.:D

Re: 4th of July...

Ok I finally have my plans set...

4wheeling some trails out in the Deckers Area. There is a spot out there where there are small waterfalls and Ice Caves that have formed over the years and I used to go out to them all the time. Now for the past few the roads out there have been closed off and not 1 person on the Colorado4x4.org board believe me that they exist. They have all tried and failed when looking for them...sooooooo, I'm backpacking in with some friends and the dogs and we are going to take some pics and GPS that mother F>>>>>.

Then BBQ and watch the firework show from my balcony.........:)

Have fun everyone...dont get thrown in Jail

They sell NOTHING in our area. I had to drive over the $12 toll Cheapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and use nearly 1/4 tank of gas just to get some fancy sparklers.  But I'm going to start planning for next year soon so any of you that live in a place that sell REAL fireworks, let me know. I may have you ship me some cool stuff.:D
