----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Has anyone seen or prchased or know's anything about the Manik Rock Sliders. They have them at www.suvxccessory.com on sale for $177.00.
By far the best price I've ever seen for a set of sliders! :iagree: |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
for looks only. They're not meant to take any abuse
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

Where can I go for these! |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
You can get them from Rocky Road Outfitters. They are less expensive than oem rock rails.
http://www.rocky-road.com/H3rockrail.html check out this thread for pics and info. BabHumv was the test rig for them. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=19558 Not to tease you:D but Amstar is supposed to be coming out with a step/rock rail combo. Who knows when they will be actually be available  but they look good. http://www.amstarfun.com/accessories...tion&acc=00015 |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
I'm not sure if I like the way the rocky-road sliders mount. It seems like a week link to me. but, they are good looking! :D
maybe I'll have some custom made. |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Go with the OEMs or the Rocky Road. You get what you pay for.
If you wheel with anything else, you will like make up the $ in damage. just my .02:D |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Depends on your application. For some if you are buying with side steps why not. Also check the gauge of the steel. Just cause someone on this site bashed his on a rock does not mean they suck:beerchug:

Please explain. |

Actually, a couple people have bashed them on rocks. And Manik responded with "too bad, they're only for decoration". Funny, they're not advertised that way. No way, no how would I EVER recommend those to anybody. If you want a product that actually provides protection, pass on the Manik's, its that simple. If you want just the look, whatever. |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

Shut the hell up and go away.... Believe me they suck. |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Anything less-durable than OEM sucks in my book! :twak:
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Supposedly Manik now has functional rock sliders? Anyone seen them yet?
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

The reason they are on sale for $177.00 is that the MANIK ROCK SLIDERS are totally worthless.. Unless you are going to use them in Store Parking lots only..... |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

By the time Amstar gets their SH*t together, I'll be looking for rocker protectors for my H12:D |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
I just really don't like the look and design of that for rocker protection. The amstar one that is.

Someone else's junk is another person's treasure;) If you want to wait to hear after my Moab trip, I'll let you know, but so far after Katemcy Rocks, Canadian River Complex, and Ouray, mine are holding up. I can't say that I specifically high-centered my vehicle on them to see if they can take the weight but they are not bent or broke yet. In fact, I try not to test them at all on the trails:D |

Not bashing the owners ETD, just the product. ;) |

X2 I have the oem's and I have seen Bab's Rocky Roads. The Rocky Roads look great and they survived a week in Moab - nuff said :D |

Hey, no offense taken Sewie. I did not interpret your post as anything but friendly advice. Mine was too. When I bash em on the rocks and curse the day that I bought them, I'll let y'all know. Until then... TO MOAB ;) |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

And you will. :iagree: A couple of us with oem rails went over the same rocks that HI did. Her's crushed like a tin can, ours barely marked........ |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
I don't wheel half as hard as alot of the members, but I have come down VERY hard on my OEM sliders more than a few times and only suffered scratches. A product worth the money.
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Ordered a set of Rocky Road Sliders today....now I just have to sell factory ones..
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

The mounting points look weak! The point from the frame to the sliders looks like it could bend under strain. Unless, your using a heavy guage steel! |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

How much $ do you want for the oem sliders? |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Quote:
Well, then looks are deceiving. I've seen them support the weight of the truck with no flexing. More info on the gauge >>> http://www.rocky-road.com/H3rockrail.html I love this pic. :D ![]() |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
Geez, I'm starting to sound like a shill. FTR, I have nothing to do with RR, just think they made a quality product. :D

Everyone has a right to their own opinion! :D |
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
They look heavy duty but have a couple of questions. First, as asked before, why only three mounting points? Don't the OEMs use four mounting points? Second, doesn't look like they cover as much area, do they?
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
from what I've seen, my bro's Cherokee has 2 mounting points and they are very sturdy.
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------
I am sure they are sturdy, just wonder why you would not utilize the four mounting points if you are going to have three. Why not just make it that much stronger, it's supposed to be as strong as possible right?
|
Re: ----------MANIK ROCK SLIDERS----------

I posted this on the other thread also. Babhumv had the Manik's which only use the outside two mounting points. One set of the inner mounting holes on the frame rail was covered by a label. I'm guessing they just missed it. |

I am going to wait and see the RR sliders before I sell but They are already "Sold' pending approval of new ones. |
