which club is that?

funny, I haven't broken anything wheeling....... except some bolts, plastic, fiberglass, sheet metal, aluminum and a little tubing. But broke nothing mechanical. Guess I haven't been wheeling hard enough.

well, you've made it abundantly clear that you are "special needs" but I'm guessing you are stretching things quite a bit to assume you are never wrong:OWNED:

Naw, they don't count because they don't get fixed. They are not mechanical and are not needed. I'm not sure I like your club.;)

This is the first I have seen break on that part of the TR. Are the Fabtech TRs stronger in this area?

Would those stainless steel sleeves from Super Diesel Performance have prevented this type of break?

No, sleeves wouldn't have helped

problem with that, for daily drivers, is the use of heim joints.

Thanks...

Do you know if the Fabtechs have increased strength where these broke?

Yes, they do.

Re: I finally did It!!! Tie Rod

The Heim joints present a lubrication problem? I ran them on a bracket car that was also a daily driver but they were secondary in the suspension so I didn't have any issues.

I can see where they could present an issue in an active mount in daily use.

I also noticed the lack of castle nuts on the installed pictures and it looks like you have to modify the kit yourself if you want to add them.

I also don't like BS branding of alloys, just tell the truth about what you're using (4140H, 314SS, ect). If I can't look up the tensile strength then it may as well be that crap they make the grocery store wrenches out of in China.

Re: I finally did It!!! Tie Rod

Heim joints are an unprotected non-lubricated joint. Though some have developed joints that are self-lubed with extremely tight tolerances that lend to longer life, the combination of off-road and daily driving will cause them to wear much quicker. The problem with this is that this wear can show itself when your are doing 75MPH on an interstate and want to turn slightly and the heims drag or "catch."

But I think that the fact that they are "bullet proof" outweighs those negatives. I, for one, am sick and tired of people shooting out my tie rods.

Thanks for the explanation. I was going to ask, but you took care of that. I have not done much offroading yet, and do not anticipate breaking anything, but I would like to know a little bit about this stuff, so that if anything does happen, I know what route to take in terms of replacement parts.
