Subtle changes in the 07 H3

Yeah, the cubby hole in front of the trans shift, the DRL as headlights, the added 22 Hp, and the horn. While these items may seem minor I appreciate them. The cubby hole is perfect for cell phones or other similar items. The DRL no biggie, and if you don't like it you can flip on the amber and fog lights. 22 more horses are a plus especially on hills, and I feel it moves along very well without going full throttle. The horn suprised the sh_t out of me. I accidentally hit the panic button on the remote, and it is 10x louder with a higher pitch. Progress though small is a good thing. I like it.;)

cool thanks for the update , the horn swap should be easy for us with 06's :perfect10s:

The cubby must only be on the automatics. The 5-speed does not have one.

would a horn swap involve just swaping the hon itself or some other changes too?

i would think just unpluging the old one and unbolting then replace with the new . But with so much data running thru the BCM it may control this too :crying: might need a voltage increase , etc.

F5 tell us about a horn swap :D :D

 HMmmm... short out the 06 horn and bring it in for replacement.
Think that will work...:D something to think about:grouphug:

I'm not an electritian by any means, but most of those run on the standard 12 volt systems, so you could probably swap it out pretty easily as long as the plug/wiring is the same...the cubby and lights is on about half of the 06s as well...mid-year changes

Good info on the '07, horn swap sounds promising.

Is that avatar a camo H3? If so, did you post a pic of it yet?

Re: Subtle changes in the 07 H3

Do you think the dealer would replace it with a 06 or 07 ?

Easy to short out just unplug it and hook it up to 110 house current a little sparking and it would be fryed.:jump:

I have a air horn so its not that important :D
The 06 horn sounds like a wiennie horn.:lame:

I think they also moved the dome light further to the front of the truck, at least the 06 I test drove seemed to be alot farther rearward.

You know, I don't think I ever heard an 06 horn, and from what you guys described I was expecting a VW beep-beep when I got 07. But it sounded fine to me. I just figured if you guys were putting semi and train horns in your rigs, you would never be satisfied with a factory horn anyway.

Re: Subtle changes in the 07 H3

I think the horn is different and in a slightly different location or at least pointing in a different direction. The shock for the rear door is different making the door much easier to shut. The airbox has some changes. The 07's have an air pump to get the cat(s) lit off sooner. The oil filler location cover is aluminum vs. black plastic/nylon for the 06's.

Depends if you have a sunroof or not. If you have the sunroof, then the dome light is further back.

Re: Subtle changes in the 07 H3

I'll have to go up to the dealer and hit the '07 horn. I think my mid year '06, has all of these incorporated changes made part of it already.
March '06 Build.
I test drove the '07 and didn't notice anything different inside or out, but the aluminum oil cap might be a real treat to change , as well as the horn if it hasn't been changed already.

I was going to change mine but GM has a special plug the 07 must have the same plug time to go to the dealer and hear it.;)

Re: Subtle changes in the 07 H3

I wonder if the cubby hole could be retor-installed to the 06? That would be immensely useful!

I have wired after market horns into other vehicles with no voltage issues. But perhaps there might be something different with the H3. I think F5 is the best to answer this one....

My Wifes VW New Beetle horn is 5 times louder then the '06 H3 horn. :-)

The camo H3 is crazy... The paint job is pretty bad ass...
They really did a good job on it.
It's at Sewell Dallas... It comes with matching camping gear and even a matching Hummer camping toy set... Kinda interesting...

Yeah..very cool..I went to the Hummer Guy's site and read a short blip about it... What's really cool is that after hunting season you can peel off the camo and expose the factory black paint job.

But what about the next year...??? How do you re-Camo the H3..??

Re: Subtle changes in the 07 H3

Just checked the 2007 schematics and compared to the 2006 they are the same. So, I see no reason why you could not switch the horn. The power is fed through the Horn relay and a 10 amp fuse, while the other lead goes to ground. The only interaction with the BCM is via the switch and the grounding of the relay. As long as the new horn does not draw more than 10 amps...switch it.
