Hummer Huggers
This Sunday, Oct. 8, HUMMER will be featured on Good Morning America, Weekend Edition. In a segment called, "HUMMER Huggers," GMA will talk to people on the street, owners, dealers and auto reporters to better understand HUMMER vehicles, perceptions of the vehicles and their unique owners. In addition to running footage of the vehicles during the report, the show hosts will give their commentary from the front seat of two HUMMER H3s at the GMA outdoor studio in Times Square. Be sure to tune in Sunday morning to ABC, between 8 and 9 am.

Thanks for the info. I am sure it will be amusing to hear what the hosts have to say, they always say the dumbest things when given a chance.

Re: Hummer Huggers
I'm glad GM is working on public perception of Hummers. We drive amazing vehicles with some advanced technology under the hood ... but you'd never know it from the ads. With all the bling, machismo and yuppies with esteem problems, it's no wonder there's a backlash against our trucks. People don't understand the technology, innovation and efficiency behind the "iconic design".
That's one thing Toyota does right. If you haven't seen the FJ magazine ads, they're a 2 page tear-out tech bulletin, each highlighting a different aspect of toyota engineering ... engine, transmission, suspension and so on. It makes the FJ look hardcore and highlights their technology, like Variable Valve Timing. The I-5 3.7L uses VVT too, but does anyone know it? Not really. Hummer needs an ad campaign that highlights the technology, innovations, safety, and ruggedness of the brand. Don't show me a phony magician next to an H3 driving past the gas station. Open the hood and tell me how the I-5 generates so much HP and low end torque while maintaining fuel economy. Get under the chassis and tell me about full-time 4wd and AAM axle strength. They need to get personal too. Interview the cops and firefighters using the First Responders program or regular folks involved in HOPE. There have to be dozens of great rescue stories about people who got to the scene or escaped from disaster in a hummer. Donate some H3s to an environmental research group so they can get count pine beetles on the Divide ... and then film them getting there. Once people start associating hummers with police, firefighters, smoke jumpers, the Red Cross and helping the environment, it will be a lot harder for them to attack hummers without hurting their own image. |

The Toyota ads are dangerously good. I think Hummer needs to step up to the plate. |

Re: Hummer Huggers
I went to the OR EXPO, Pomona, CA this AM. Saw the inside of the FJ for my first time, gizmach pukeage. Otherwise several styling cues common between H3 & FJ. I wonder who copied who? A lot of the FJ says wanna-be. The H3 is clearly more sophisticated, no amount of optioneering could bring an FJ up to the same level as H3.:clapping:

I'll be watching!

Re: Hummer Huggers
Well, that was about as exciting as watching popcorn pop.
However, the segment on tannng was interesting. A bunch of hot babes in bikinis.:clapping: :fdance: :jump: |
Re: Hummer Huggers
Hell I blinked and missed half of it. Literaly.
For 5 minutes of show they had 5 minutes of commercials. Very hard to sit through. If you missed it you didn't miss anything. The actual interviews must have shown a positive light on the Hummer. So they didn't air them. I did catch the part where both females said they were Hummer haters and the blond refused to even drive an H3. Very Lame. But f5 was right about the bikini's...:jump: |

Re: Hummer Huggers
Well, that sure backfired. I guess you can't tell them what to say, and news is all about sensationalism anymore, but it still sucks. Whoever's doing PR for GM needs a pink slip and a swift kick on the way out the door.
Hummers deserve better than this. If there's room for cadillacs, ferraris, and jaguars in the sports and luxury arena, then why not for H2s and 3s among fullsize and midsize SUVs? It's not like anything from Land Rover gets better mpg. |

Re: Hummer Huggers
I read the link and "that was it?" I couldn't even tell if it really was air, scented or not.:fdance:

Re: Hummer Huggers
The hosts are retarded!! They couldn't even form complete sentences to discribe the H3. It's a "multi-wheeled vehicle". What a dumbass!! You would think that GM would give them some bullets of info to repeat! Pretty lame!
|
Re: Hummer Huggers
At least we know ABC doesn't give fair, unbiased reporting. But then again...They never did.:twak:
|
Re: Hummer Huggers
Did they really say it's a "multi-wheeled vehicle" LMFAO :giggling:
I tivo'd the show and watched it briefly but it was so lame I erased it. What kind of brainless barnyard animals could watch a show like that. There must not be much oxygen getting to the brain cells of people in the urban area involved with that show. I'm glad I don't live in or near a big city filled with mindless but oh-so-fashionable sheep. Some people actually watch that ill informed crap and think it's representative of reality.... scary! Television and the News Media has really gone to Hell since the days of the Andy Griffith Show. :crying: |
Re: Hummer Huggers
I was disappointed by the short blurp. They didn't really help the perception of any hummer line and basically grouped them all in the poor gas mileage class. There was the mention of 20 mpg for the h3, but if you coughed, sneezed, or took a drink, you would have missed that. There was no comparison with other full size trucks and SUV's on the market either.
I'm still trying to get my wife to like the H3 and the segment didn't help my cause any. |
