Your H3 looks so nice with the body colored grille!

SNOW! Haha, can't wait until we start getting it here. Buffalo just had 20" or so. You're making me a bit jealous of not being out in Colorado! :D

Feeling better, Wisha Haddan? Send some of that snow out west. It would be a nice change. I forgot there are 4 seasons (other than the hotel chain, that is!:giggling: )!

Thanks I am feeling better. Had a nasty stomach bug, but I'm back at work today.

Went for a quick drive yesterday afternoon. The roads were just wet, not slushy or icy, but I had my first taste of wiper freeze. Gonna have to get me some winter blades :D

One nice thing about the H3 windshield tho ... The blades aren't recessed like on my blazer, so you can drag your snow brush below the wipers and pull the snow straight off the side of the truck. Slides right past the air intake wannabes.

Glad you're feeling better!

I just picked up some of the Bosch thin-line wipers at Autozone today. They're the one's that look funny and have no supporting brackets. Anyway, they seem to do really well with just moisture on my H2 windshield, and are supposed to be as good as winter blades. One problem I had with the winter blades on my ex's H3 is that the ice/water/crap would accumulate inside the rubber sheath and then they would freeze up, straighten out, and miss areas of the windshield. I never had that problem with those types of blades before the H3. I think the "invisiline" wipers would do very well.

Thx dude. Are those the Bosch ICONs? I wanted to try those, but they didn't have the H3's size at Pep Boys.

Yeah, I think that's it. They were about $17/each where I got them. There are now some models that are very similar at Wal-mart, but I was unable to get them to hook into the hook arms of the wiper.

I'm hopefully going to hit some snow up in NY this next week, so I can let you know how the snow performance is. Though NY won't have anything like Colorado conditions until sometime in November. :D

BlueHUMMERH2 10-27-2006 09:33 PM

Re: got snow?

Well, it did snow in NY actually. A few inches came down. It rained the whole way there as well.

The ICONs did pretty well with the rain. They smeared some rubber on the windshield around where the blades stop. Not sure why that happened. But it came off with a squeegee at the gas station.

The snow performance is questionable. They snow started to gather on the side of the blade, essentially between the windshield and the wiper. I wasn't in the snow long enough to see how much would build up. I dropped out of the pass and it went back to rain. So I'm not sure if it would build up there further or eventually get pushed out. It was very windy, and I was driving about 50MPH, and it still just kept collecting.

Totally agree with you. I lived for many years in NH. Over the last nine years I have been in tropical climates. I would love to go skiing and all the other winter sports. The only problem is I run the heater in my car in the morning to work and it is 70 degrees. Once the temp drops below 70 degrees it might as well be -40. Once I retire I plan on moving back to the snow but for right now I will stick with the areas where I can dive year round without having to drill holes in the ice to do it.

Re: got snow?

An update on the Bosch blades I used over the winter:

I'd have to say that they did well in all conditions. They handled snow, ice, sleet, and rain well.

Streaks: A
-Forget about all those stupid streaks you get right away with conventional wiper blades. It has taken a few months to develop them, and even now there is only about one that really annoys me.

Snow Resistance: A
-Blades refused to clog up under heavy snow or become popsicles.

Rain: A
-Great rain performance. RainX windshield fluid makes them even better.

Wear Life: A-
-They're about 6 months in now, and are still alright, but I have a feeling the metal rods are starting to lose some downforce on the windshield. I suppose this is a good lifetime, but they also are $20/each vs. $8-$10 for conventional blades.
