Jeep JK parked Next to an H3

It looks bigger than the H3

Re: Jeep JK parked Next to an H3

Is that an optimcal illusion, or what?! I've driven past a JK and it did not seem as large as my H3. The driver sat somewhat lower and it only appeared to be an extended length Wrangler in looks.

I think the 4-door's wheelbase is 116"

Re: Jeep JK parked Next to an H3

It's the angle of the shot, hell even the Grand Cherokee that's closest to the camera looks wider than the JK and we all know how small a GC is.

To me it looks like jeep copied part of the G-class MB and added the front-end of a Heep :lame:

Re: Jeep JK parked Next to an H3

Well, there does appear to be more room at the tops corners (unusable room though). The JK will be the belle of the ball at SEMA this year.

What pisses me off is how quickly the Jeep aftermarket manufacturers have stuff for the JK and how ungodly slow the aftermarket has been to produce anything other than bling for the H3. I've had my H3 for a year now and there really is only 2 lifts out there and the stupid JK already has double that out. The other thing is that stuff for the H3 is approximately double the cost of similar stuff for the JK. What gives?

Why does this bother me? Well, I stand firmly behind the fact that the H3 is the best stock vehicle for off-roading. But I also know that anybody that is into off-roading doesn't leave their vehicle stock... including me! I know the interior of the JK isn't anywhere as nice as the H3, but why have a nice interior if your Rancho lift beats the hell out of you? Why jump up to 35's or 37's if you need to bring a box of replacement parts for the front end every time you offroad? I'm not wanting a new JK, but waiting for the aftermarket to kick in is really cheesing me off!!!

I agree 100%. I've said as much on here an been beat up pretty badly. I think the aftermarket guys pretty much identified their market that H3 owners (remember, I'm talking market majority) like to spend too much. Look at the skid plates for the shocks and the roof racks. They're stupidly overpriced. I guess it's H3 owners fault for responding to them with their credit card number (and then trying to defend the decision by whoopin' up on anyone that says they paid too much). It's an absolute shame that Amstar's going through the stealership because of the gross markup. I'm votin' with my feet on this issue. Amstar can keep their stuff. I'll either be making my own or waiting for a reasonably priced third party (or waiting for ebay deals). It's one thing for someone to call you stupid by offering a part that just because it's for an H3 cost double what it would for a jeep or toy, it's quite another to prove it by buying it.

$1000 roof racks and $200 shock skid plates are ridiculous and they won't be reasonably priced until we make 'em so.

I don't understand the off road accessories for the H3 being so slow to market. it is very tough to find quality products without someone wantiong to rip you on them. You say hummer and bam here comes the mark-up.:crying:

Thank you! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one on this.

BTW, I took my Garvin - Wilderness Expedition roof rack from a TJ (that you can pick up used for about $300 on any Jeep board) and got some Surco rack mounts for $40 from Summit and now have a killer rack on my H3. Pics to come soon. Gobi and the other bozos wanting a grand for the same same can kiss my brown pahookie!!

Yes...I always look down when I pull up next to a Rubi...I try to be kind and not throw up on other people's vehicles. Sometimes my aim is off....

There's a reason why the military replaced the Jeep... :)

Jeep owners rally round the fire

I used to sell jeep. I owned a lifted Land Rover Discovery at the time (caught much UNWARRANTED grief). Kinda like mustang owners that get their ass handed to them every time they line up to a camaro or trans am, yet they continue to talk sh!t. If anyone here thinks that a jeep is superior in ANY way to a HUMMER H3 (H2 or H1), they have never driven the HUMMER and they more than likely are gay or pose at the walmart parking lot with the other posers. apparently, jeep is huge in the gay community, no offense to the gay wheelin homeys :shhh:

after having my fillings shaken out of my teeth, while on a particular demo drive (2005 Unlimited Rubi) at a rock quarry near the dealership, I decided I could no longer lie to my customers and sought employment elsewhere. The jeep sucks offroad.

HOWEVER!!! I would test drive the new rubi, in hopes that the longer wheelbase may help tone down the ride. it certainly has more promise for my needs than anything jeep has produced in the past. It's certainly better than the FJ as far as I can tell.

:iagree: I too sold Jeeps had jeeps and a lifted Land Rover Disco. These guys that hate H3's so much have never driven an H3. I don't think it is possible to drive an H3 and not want it. I am keeping my eye on this, I just can't help it. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/25/d...-jeep-at-sema/

Don't respond irrationally. The JK is going to out-wheel the 2 and the 3. That's just the way it is and we all have to live with it. Big deal. Our interiors are far superior and the creature comforts crush the Jeep.

Only one person on this board has driven AND wheeled with JKs and it's Paragon. PM him if you'd like details.

You can also search for the pics of the JK's on the Rubicon. They ran it stock, save for a couple of winch bumpers, in half the time the last Hummer group did.

Re: Jeep JK parked Next to an H3

I agree that on the gnarliest of stuff, the smaller size and the front locker make the Rubicon the winner. Here's the HUGE difference though (to state the glaringly obvious) How many jeeps do you see being trailered to the trailhead vs. Hummers? That's all there is to say about that.

You can commute in a trail capable H3 in great comfort, hell, we've done long road trips in ours. While it's not nearly as nice as our Denali, it was no big deal. You'd have to threaten me with driving a Pious before I'd take a Rubicon on a long road trip, PARTICULARLY one that was set up for trail work.

I wanted a Rubicon Unlimited so bad I could taste it. A road test in both machines made this old fart change his mind. That dumbassed rough ride, choppy handling, NOISY AS HELL interior and the lame way you have to pick your knee up to your chin every single time you get in and out were things that didn't bother me when I was twenty.

I'm between buying the 4 door JK and the H3, but actually with GMID pricing and 0%, the H3 is a better value, never thought I would say that, but it is. That and I will soon move out west and spend time in snow, so I think the H3 would be a better vehicle in the snow and all-around. I do agree that I wish the aftermarket was better for the H3, but then again, it's pretty nice in stock form to begin with.

With the traction control, it is AMAZING in snow! Especially when the roads are plowed and the white stuff keeps coming down and you see a bunch of econoboxes all off it the ditches! You'll love that!

I drive in the snow a lot. This is just my opinion. The traction control is great for putting around. If you need to get a little quick, TURN IT OFF. It gets dicey when you go faster in the snow with the traction control turned on. It'll understeer you right off the road. To boogey in the snow, turn it off and then you can steer with the throttle. Try it next time, it's true.
