I just found the real reason for the layoffs

Its because of the arrogant attitudes of the dealers! One of them told me that I was lucky he was only charging msrp, that others were marking them up even more. That only happens when a vehicle is in high demand and short supply! I understand they have to make a profit to stay in business, and I want them to make a modest profit, but meet me somewhere in the middle.

That's probably a small part of it. It's strange that they are still like this. It's sooo 2003.

Just get it to Evergreen and I'll repair it for ya. A little duct tape, a little welding, sew some seat covers for ya, and you're good to go. I will only be 1/2 as snobby.

are you going to have my new rockers done by then:popcorn:

For $150, shipped, you can get a new set of stock ones off ebay to utilize the brackets.

$150 is cheap to not have to make the brackets

Making the brackets would simple, and a better approach. I was lazy and didn't want to make another trip the metal yard.

I'd simply buy 4 feet of 2.5" x 7", 1/4 inch rect tubing which would only cost about $35. Then, cut out like this and get the 10 brackets.

Cut center out of the bracket rear on the driver's side for the brake line. That's about it. It would upgrade the bracket for the stock 3/16" to 1/4". Beefier. Plus, not grinding of the powdercoating for welding. :D

No, the extra one would be submitted to the Hummer Legends Hall of Fame.

I really don't want to name the dealer. But I can say that same dealer also said:

"The warranty on 06s is 4yr/75k miles", (not 50k like the website said).
"The 07 H2s have a 6.6 V8, the 06 had a 6.0", (I thought only H1s had a 6.6).
"The H2 does have side air bags, see that square cap behind the seat."
"The OnStar calling out uses satellite, not cellular."

That along with some other statements I can't remember right now but seem contrary to everything I've read.

You really should state where this was said. How do we get things corrected if we don't know where it's happening?

Some of us here talk to all the HUMMER dealers on a regular absis. This info would be good to knwo, so it can be corrected as Paragon had mentioned. Inacurate information and uppity attitude needs to be addressed. If you are hesitant to list this in the open forum, please feel free to PM me and it will be kept confidential.

At least give it a day or two to make sure they don't reconsider. They were very nice, let us take a demo overnight. I hate to get them in trouble. I was ready to buy if they had only taken a little off msrp. I've also watched their web based inventory closely for nearly two months and it looks like they really would rather keep their vehicles?

They won't get in trouble. It's just noted. Every HUMMER dealer is "graded" quarterly on service and sales. Good and bad is noted for each dealer. It goes into a database and looked at quarterly for review. This helps each dealer provide better future sales/service and gives them more information on existing employees.

btw- why are you going into the dealer without a supplier discount certificate? Someone here will have one for you. than there's no negotitation at all... unless you have a trade.

get a GM IN THE DRIVEWAY Cert.

That don't sound quite fair, I don't have any connections to GM. I just want a fair deal where the dealer makes 3k+ (not 6k+) profit.

So, you are willing to give them 3K? that's great! I have some parts I'll sell you at a fair deal too. :D

$500 over invoice still gets them their hold back and is a common price today as long as it's not a limited eddition.

Either you are dealing with a new salesman or you are dealing with Medved.

you don't need a connection with GM to get the cert.

What state are you in?

I'll give you a GM in the driveway (which has been renamed to something like GM friends and family?). Just PM me with your:
LAST 4 numbers of your SSN
Date of birth
Email address where I can forward the certificate number to.
That's it, and you can get supplier discount with no haggling, and if there are any rebates, you get those on top of the supplier discount.

Re: I just found the real reason for the layoffs

I think it's shades of 1984 or 1974. As long as I've been buying cars its been like this and boat dealers are the same. When I took my 6 mo. old H2 in yesterday for immediate emergency engine service It was like who are you did you buy it here who was salesman ,I guess if any answer was tilt I was gonna get the bums rush. I had to produce credit card and sign 6 forms in triplicate. I said what about 4yr bumper to bumper war. and answer was only if YOU didn't screw something up. GUS REVENBERG GMC HUMMER WINDSOR. But truck was back in one day with a lousy wash job. Regards The Rebel

Sorry it didn't work out, but I'm tired of driving for hours only to have them act like I should bow down and kiss their feet for the privilege of paying msrp. This is (by far) the worst auto purchase experiences I've had in 30 years.
