ScanGauge2
3 Attachment(s)
I bought ScanGauge2 and installed it today. It's Plug & Play. What you have to do is to connect to OBD2 connector. That's it.
http://www.scangauge.com/features/ I think that this device is worth paying $170. |
Re: ScanGauge2
Pretty neat... I like the MPG part and the fuel remaining. :perfect10s:

Interesting. Your photos show it on top of your steering column. Is a bracket included or is it just sitting there for the photo? RYD |
Re: ScanGauge2

I used the sticky-black velcro supplied with ScanGauge2 to attach it there. |

Please read their manual. http://www.scangauge.com/support/pdfs/SGIIManual.pdf |
Re: ScanGauge2
Sadly, I couldn't get the answers from their manual, but I did send them an email.
How did you run your cable? Any pics of the cable run? How did you attach the display? |

Just use an attached cable and connect it from OBD2 connector to the dispay, that's it. |
Re: ScanGauge2
i like it. Im trying to find a place to flush mount it. im thinking maybe it would fit directly in front of the shifter and you'd be able to look down at it when not in park.

Re: ScanGauge2
I have had one of these for about 8 months now and I love it. I use the "miles remaining on tank" feature all the time. There is a lot of great information that this thing has. I have mine sitting on the dash right up at the windshield and drivers A-pillar and I ran the cable down the back of the dash.
My only wish is that it could read how much fuel is in the tank and reset itself when you get gas. You have hit the "more" button and "fillup" to reset it. It's really easy, but it would be nice to not have to do that. The company is also in the process of building a USB PC link for it so you can download saved info to your PC or upload programming updates to the Scan Gauge. I keep emailing them, but it is not available yet. |

i was reading that in the manual, about not reading the tank, instead needing to be reset when you refill. I was wondering how accurate it is like that. In teh manual it says not to trust it after 50 miles, i guess thats excessive, but since you've had it for a while what do you think about that? how accurate is it? Would you go down to 5 or 10 miles left? thanks! |

If you think about it, any OBD II scan tool is upwards of 200 bucks, so considering this one shows displays and functions while you're driving...seems like a hell of a deal to me. Im buying one. :beerchug: |

It seems very accurate to me. Usually, at about 45 miles remaining the low fuel light comes on. The light is supposed to come on at 3 gallons remaining, so at about 15MPG it seems very accurate to me. I have never run mine down to 5 or 10 miles remaining, but it seems accurate enough to do it. As long as you do the refill step right after you fill-up, it should be good. The only problem is that if you only fill your tank half-way it will be off. The fill-up step expects you to fill the tank completely. That is why I wish it could read the fuel level. Then it wouldn't matter how much you put in. The new PC interface is supposed to allow updates to the ScanGauge, so hopefully things like this will be changed in the future. |
Re: ScanGauge2

Do we get a price break for telling him that? I found them on e-Bay for $165 and free shipping. |
Re: ScanGauge2

Don't know abou price break.. But I payed $169.00 with free shipping. Ok ..So I paid $5.00 more...But it's from the MFG..and If I have a problem I don't have to call Ebay for a fix...:giggling: |
Re: ScanGauge2

:iagree: I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know the MFG was shipping free too though. Much better to go direct. |
Re: ScanGauge2
I got mine at www.3n1autocomputer.com/buy_now_toyota.html for $130 (includes shipping). It is a special Toyota forum buy.
I got mine yesterday, but not sure how I want to mount it. It won't fit nicely in the cubby above the shifter. There are some similar guages out there that are round (and a bit more $$$) and then you could use a round gauge pod...put who knows where to install it...maybe on the pillar. |

Re: ScanGauge2
We'll need to get them or the other company to set up a Hummer buy. Their email is on this page http://www.3n1autocomputer.com/buy_now.html.

Can you tell me what forum it is that you got the special price from? That will help in trying to get it down for us. Better yet, I'll just register on that forum to buy the ScanGauge. |
Re: ScanGauge2
The Toyota Nation pricing was only for a limited time, so it probably won't help to become a member. A new group buy would probably need to be arranged.
|
Re: ScanGauge2
Looks like your right, it's too late. Thanks anyway.
|
Re: ScanGauge2
Got mine a week or so ago ..I was going to mount it as shown in the first post on top of the steering column but..not sure about seeing the dash and the insterment panel clearly.

I wanted to ask if it would also work on my 95 Cummins. There is some gray area info on their website about that. Unfortunatly the email came back. |
Re: ScanGauge2
Yes, they are legit. My officemate and I both got our units from them. Jim there is also the one who set up the group buy for us expiring on 1/30. I have sent your question on to 3N1 again, and I have cc'd you on it.

Email went through. Their response was as follows: Thats iffy. He needs to have a dealership check and see if he had OBD2. If he's OBD1, it wont work. OBD2 became standard in 1996, but there are some 1995 vehicles who adopted to OBD2 a year early. They also went on to say that only 1 unit has been bought so far from the forum members. |
