Re: Over the hood brushguard
I'm curious, what's the factory/OEM brushguard cost in chrome?
|
Re: Over the hood brushguard
That is a sweet looking brushguard, I like it! Hmm 2k I might think about it in the Spring, because it looks soo good on red.
The OEM chrome guard can run up to 500 or 600 dollars. It depends on where you buy it. I bought a used OEM brushgurad (black)off E-Bay with a couple of tiny scratches for 175 plus 50 for shipping. Some of the dealers on Ebay want 450 for the oem balck one. |
Re: Over the hood brushguard

A simple "I hadn't thought of that" would've sufficed. :fdance: BTW, I'm always on here late anyway, so just have him post up when he's done for the night. ;) |

Re: Over the hood brushguard
Spoke with Neil at H2O Hummers this morning. Thats a NO on the Over the hood Brushguard without the winch bumper. It would have to be completely re-engineered.
Unless they can get about 50 people interested. Happy Sewie????:fdance: |

Thanks. :D :D I'm a little surprised though. Hopefully down the road he'll change his mind. I'd be willing to bet that he'd sell more brushguards alone than the whole combo. |

It's about finding room with the stock setup to have hinges, clasps and release levers.... |

uh huh...custom fabrication.:twak: |

I'm guessing it has more to do with time constraints than feasibility. It seems like he just has too much to do right now. Which is why I said I hope he'll do it down the road. Besides, it really doesn't need some fancy mechanism. Just look at the OEM ones for the H1/H2 or the Realwheels one. |

I think the biggest issue is going to be to have close tolerances between a pin and a hole and having hard enough steel on both that the won't wear each other making LARGE tolerances and creating noises and rattles.. With the weight of the guard pulling back and bouncing on the pin or catch release mechanism as well as the hinge, it's going to be a constant battle against wear.. The Amstar wrap around sits on supports on the hood, so it's doesn't stress the catch and hinge as much... Rob |
