2008 H3 SUV
Wanted to let everyone know I am getting closer to purchasing a H3! I have some questions though!
1. What is new in the 2008 model? I know about the engine option, but is there anything else? 2. If there are major improvements or changes, should I wait until July or August for the new model year? If not, should I just go for it on the 2007 model? 3. I realize there are going to be some price changes, but does anyone know if they are going to be dramatic? It's amazing how much one knows just by reading the brochure, the website, and most importantly this forum! The dealers know a lot, but not as much as the guys (and gals) in here! I almost got into it with the salesperson yesterday on the subject of the curtain airbags. They continued to tell me that these are NOT side impact, only for rollover. I vaguely remember reading that it IS for both side impact and rollover from a post that f5 wrote. I already have my supplier authorization code! :excited: As always, thanks for the great information! Bill |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
Main differences between what is called side air bags versus roll over air bags:
Side impact curtains stay inflated for only a second or two, while rollover curtains stay inflated for around 10-20 seconds depending on the type used. True rollover curtains only have a rollover sensor. However, a side/rollover system has a rollover sensor, as well as side impact sensors. On the H3, the rollover sensors is under the console, while the side impact sensors are in each front door. As for prices, I have no idea. |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
Some new features comming is any H3 built after Feb. 1st will have rear child locks and new switch positions on ( I believe) all doors. 2008 will also have roof rail aibags standard. There will be 3 new colors as well as several colors going away. As far as pricing goes, we don't normally know for a few weeks after we start building new models

Re: 2008 H3 SUV
Defintly go with the curtain airbags, I mean for $450 your sooo much safer, way i saw it was Id rather spend the 450 and and hopefully never have to use them, than not to get them and god forbid have to use them, so thats defintly an option would recommend, as for what H3 Builder those are the changes we know of so far, also im not sure about this but i heard that the window buttons will be in a more convienient loaction.

Re: 2008 H3 SUV
I'd wait and risk the lower value when I sell my Xterra if there was a desert tan/brown style color coming out!
|
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
ZGXtreme that would be awsome if Hummer did come out with that, but they had a Desert Sand color on the H2 and took it away so it makes me wonder if they would make it for the H3 at all.

Re: 2008 H3 SUV
Wait for the 2008 and maybe you can get the V 8 in it.
|
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
It's interesting you mention the V8; I was in the dealer on Friday and they told me that the V8 option will be FIFO in a way with a list of people desiring that option! I spoke to my GM friend this weekend at a cigar tasting event and he said that there will be a higher amount of V8 H3's built as the production cycle gets hot! So while the first statement is true, it won't be difficult to get one as the 2008 model year progresses. Hopefully I explained that correctly!
By the way, it was a Cusano event at the Outlaw Cigar Company in Kansas City! :excited: |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
So when is the H3 V8 coming out?
|
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
I guess when the V 8 does come out our little engine will really make the 06 and 07 H 3 decrease in value.Cant be that much more when they come out with the V 8.

Re: 2008 H3 SUV
I guess I will have a COLLECTORS ITEM.
YELLOW (discontinued item) 06 (first year) Little I-5 (discontinued item) RYD |

Nobody's ever said anything about discontinuing the I5 (yet). The V8 would be an option. |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
rumors rumors. dont you people learn. This has been said over and over. How many times did the v-8 come out in the h3 already. Its not comming in 2008 either. Why would they bother so soon. Yea you wait for that v-8 buddy. People have been waiting since 06 now. It should've come out like 3 times already. Im sure they'd redesign a whole new engine for the H3 when its selling so great and they are having a million other problems with the trucks that they need to adress. I bet these wonderful differentials would do great with a v-8 to eat right threw them. Everyone knows someone in gm whos grandmothers uncles son talked to a head of some department that says so. So wow it must all be true.

The voice of knowledge? I can't say whether there will be a V8, but I can say this poster knows not what he is talking about, but I will recommend to him the new JK. It is a nice vehicle, but not trouble free as I found out yesterday when viewing the forums. |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
Yea I'm still waiting to gain some knowledge about an upcoming V8 in the H3. As promising as it sounds, so far all I've seen is speculation.

Re: 2008 H3 SUV
I too would like to know more about what's new in the upcoming model year!

No, you wrote (as you quoted above) "Little I-5". Now if you interpret that as meaning the 3.5 vs. the 3.7, so be it. But its not what you wrote. Now I know you're old and feeble-minded, but come on. Did you skip your nap today? |

As I stated initially, I am aware of an engine upgrade, and by the looks of your photo, I would have to agree with the person who replied first...an alternator! I am amazed by this and many threads here! I asked several clear, logical questions, backed by my current knowledge, and I get many interpretations and responses. Simply amazing! And as the Guiness commercial goes..."Brilliant" (at times)! :D Bill |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
pricing...if they do release a V8, it will be priced as a fully loaded package (I bet). That appears to be the with GM marketing lately. Loaded I mean like with the luxury package.
Base models would probably get the current I-5...I guess. Would be interesting to find out what GM prices the V8 at, if it does come out:fdance: |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
wait on the v8, even if it takes 40 years you wont be sorry

Re: 2008 H3 SUV

I know I am stirring the pot, but when I bought my H3 I heard rumors of a v-8 in an alpha version of the H3. Which would warrant a much higher price tag. Of course I have no timeline for such a model, and this was over a year ago. |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
Just a bunch of unvalidated rumors still...

Re: 2008 H3 SUV
I wonder if GM will offer a trade in or discount program on the engines alone.... should a '06 or '07 owner want to transplant the V8?
Would much have to be done with the drive train, computer, etc.? And I also resemble that old remark, per se.... :twak: And I love my NAPS!! :clapping: |
Re: 2008 H3 SUV
I'm still wondering if we can get some facts about a possible V8, if indeed it is a possibility, so far nothing ????
