Has Bling taken over the world?

It seems 9 out of 10 photo shots here are blinged out H2s. Are the bling guys just more likely to post photos while the real men are out wheeling? Or, has everyone turned pimp and just forgot to tell me about it. What's the deal?

?Most of our pocket wisdom is conceived for the use of mediocre people, to discourage them from ambitious attempts, and generally console them in their love of bling.?

-- Robert Louis Stevenson

Good point. That reminds me of what was once said:

Bling is merely the refuge which the ingenious have invented, when they were supplied with food and women, to escape the tediousness of life.

W. Somerset Maugham (1874 - 1965)

Yes, Maugham is one of my favorites. Also note that:

“People demand bling only when they have no power.”

From one of the Greats:

"Bling is a hellhound that gnaws at Negroes in every waking moment of their lives to remind them that the lie of their inferiority is accepted as truth in the society dominating them."

Martin Luther King, Jr.

I can't tell you how humorous yet profound I find that wise passage. A few more on point:

“It requires more courage and honor to keep the bling off your chariot than to submit to the tackiness of bling.”
-- Napoleon Bonaparte

“The glory that goes with bling is fleeting and fragile; virtue is a possession glorious and eternal.”
-- Sallust

“Bling's passion will be served; it demands, it militates, it tyrannizes.”
-- Marquis De Sade

“Probably the greatest harm done by vast wealth is the harm that we of moderate means do ourselves when we let the vices of bling and hatred enter deep into our own natures.”
-- Theodore Roosevelt

Actually, that's kinda cool IMO. It's nice to be the only H2 out on the trail. Jeeps are a dime-a-dozen out there. ;)

Like a wise philosopher once said:

"Excess generally causes reaction, and produces a change in the opposite direction, whether it be in the seasons, or in individuals, or in governments, or on blinged rides.

Damn it CO. I've told you before and I'll tell you again... Don't hate tha playa, hate tha game.

BTW - Bling had an entirely different meaning prior to 1998, so all those quotes are pretty silly.

Not true, my friend.

"For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future bling."

John F. Kennedy

Wrong. It is written in the Bible many times how Jesus used his super powers to change things to bling.

Quote:

The word "bling" was first used on record in 1998 by fellow Cash Money Records artist Lil Wayne on the track "Millionaire Dream" ("I got ten around my neck, and baguettes on my wrist, Bling!") from the Big Tymers album How Ya Luv That. The word was coined by Lil Wayne who often used onomatopoeia, he later extended its use to "bling bling" for the hook he wrote and performed on the B.G. track of the same name. "Bling Bling," released in 1999 on B.G.'s album Chopper City in the Ghetto led later in the 2000's to the term proliferating through mainstream hip hop and eventually spilling over into popular culture as a sarcastic term used to mock the perceived vacuousness of hip hop culture.

Now prove yours!

It wasn't even added to the dictionary until 2000.

PROOF:

A square slip of papyrus recording the title Iliad, Book II, followed by a date: the month Mekheir (February) and a number (zeta crossed out and corrected to eta?) and a reference to "bling". Purpose unknown. Several sillyboi (Oxyrhynchus Papyri nos. 381 and 958) designate records (mnemonika) for business or administrative activities specified by month and year of an emperor?s reign. The papyrus slip might be thought to label a copy of Iliad 2 similarly written in the month Mecheir. But in comparison with extant sillyboi, the slip seems too wide to hang properly if attached to the end of the papyrus roll, and is thus more likely a reader?s note or reminder for reading or study.
The Oxyrhynchus Papyri vol. XXXI no. 2605

In Vermont, the H2s I see are just about always stock. The road salt would eat away all the chrome and what not.

So if I see an H2 with bling, I tend to enjoy it... But then again, seeing any HUMMERs in VT is nice!

No... "bling" is the imaginary sound that is produced from light reflecting off of items like extravagant diamonds, excessively large chrome rims and large platinum chains. Not any of that nonsense you just posted. :twak:
