It's interesting that you all found the photos and images great until I let you know that I don't actually like the H3. I'm sorry that many of you do not understand why the H3 is not a good off-road platform. It really is too bad that many here like to resort to calling names for lack of better ammunition.

aggiehummer...er 02-23-2006 03:19 AM

I love how you run completely run over a small tree after landing.

Thor 02-23-2006 03:35 AM

Great pictures and it looks like you had a blast for the day!

This, the video and pictures, is the reason why I did not want to purchase a used car and certainly not one rented out for this use.

I think you made a great investment by purchasing the insurance. The problem is that you left me with the itch to do the same thing with my own truck.

westhillsat 02-23-2006 04:25 AM

Wow, very cool

Great first post!!

Sewie 02-23-2006 04:36 AM

"Don't worry, it's a rental."

Nice air, but I give you a 7 on the landing.

DDWH 02-23-2006 04:43 AM

Alan06SUT 02-23-2006 04:55 AM

DarthKarl 02-23-2006 09:21 AM

Money shots!!!

GLBLWARMR 02-23-2006 11:52 AM

HHHMMMMM and people wonder why I never would buy a used rental as a vehicle. People always talk about what great deals they are. Great pics and vid.

HummerJim 02-23-2006 02:21 PM

Kind of reminds me when people would rent Shelby Mustang GT350s from Hertz in 1966 and take them out at race them on the weekends. I had a good friend (OK maybe someone closer than a good friend) that rented on a Friday took out the passenger seat and carpet, took off the air cleaner and spare tire, raced it on a Satuday, replaced the interior, cleaner and spare tire and returned it Sunday night. Nobody would touch those GT350H Mustangs when Hertz sold them for around $3,000 and look at their value now.
I think renting an H3 is a great way to decide if you're not sure. IMHO these machines sell themselves!

HummBebe 02-23-2006 03:10 PM

Is that you Harald?????

I'm sorry, I didn't fully explain. My truck is in the shop and the dealership's Enterprise office offered me the H3. I had fun with it, but it is ill-suited for heavy-duty use such as rock crawling or even going overland at high speeds. The H3 is too softly sprung and the suspension bottoms out and slams into the bumpstops. It is a very disconcerting experience.

I thought the H3 would make a nice little truck for my wife, but after driving it, I will not buy one.

Here's my rig. I don't have any crazy photos because I am usually by myself.

That rental looks like a base or lux. With the adventure offroad package It would have been better for major offroading.

Yeah I had the first thought...especially since I am gonig to Moab tomorrow for a few days. But I am pretty sure the wife and dogs would freak out.

WE are more of a slow crawler typeof off roader in Canyon Country....but if the situation is right...you never know.

I would have to agree but even as a base model it is better suited for offroading than most of the 4x4s on the market right now.

I think your expectations were just set way to high G-wagen. I will be saving the video to view over and over though

That doesn't help the suspension one bit. All packages get the same soft suspension.

Nevertheless, I didn't start the thread to start a debate over the inadequacies of the truck. I just posted some stuff I thought you guys might enjoy.

DDWH 02-23-2006 03:32 PM

ah.... Ghey-Wagon troll Go launch your homo hauler and take some vids of that POS self destructing at impact!

Great pics and video?
Perhaps, you would be more impressed, with the $33K H3, if you tried the same stuff, in your $100+K G'wagen.

HummerJim 02-23-2006 07:15 PM

"The H3 is too softly sprung and the suspension bottoms out and slams into the bumpstops. It is a very disconcerting experience"

Not true at all about the suspension being the same on adventure and base/lux. See July Hurf posts, but the spring rates are stiffer on the Adventure package (4550# rear axle leaf vs 3200# base and lux)and the shocks have more suppression with the Adventure and more travel. That's a 40% higher spring rate. Many people here have chosen the base or lux after deciding the Adventure was a little too firm for their likes.
I have driven the Adventure only once as a loaner for three days when mine was being serviced, but offroad the difference is noticeable, while on the highway I would say minimal.

HummerJim 02-23-2006 09:16 PM

After a call to my favorite Lynch Hummer Guy the Adventure has foaming suppression in the shocks and an anti hyper extension feature that base and lux do not have.

oneworld 02-24-2006 01:04 AM

G-wagen, Thanks for the pictures and the video, they were excellent. Would you even consider doing that air trick with your Benz? I think that the H3 will out perform your rig off road > not on road, and for 35000.00 the H3 rocks. I have lux/offroad pacs in mine and I have yet to bang the tires into the wheel wells but I also dont go flying with it either. Yes it rides a little stiff on the road but I love it.
Thanks again for the video

NEOCON1 02-24-2006 01:18 AM

ok wagon boy since you think the H3 is such a piece of crap for wheelin . take your G@y-wagon or rent one.this is the test , same knoll same speed show me the vid of that i bet your truck will make us laugh . i am really impressed with the landing , i doubt the g-wag will keep all four wheels attached , prove me wrong . i have seen many a wheel fly from busted axles lugs etc . from the still photo i am surprised the 3 didant lose one seeing how off-camber the landing is . come on girly man jump your wagon .

NEOCON1 02-24-2006 01:20 AM
