Best tire for on and off road performance
Hey guys. Im wanting to get a good tire set up right when I buy my truck. I was thinking about getting some toyo's the 35 inchers. But I am concerned with these taking away from my everyday driving. I hear they are amazing off road, but to be honest I will be driving my h3 on the street more than I will be offroad. I am now thinking of getting a 33 inch tire. would a Toyo 33" open country tire make a noitceable increase in performance off road. and will it let me retain more of the h3's acceleration on the street. If anyone thinks there is a better tire for my application let me know (ps I dont want a loud tire). Thanks russell

Re: Best tire for on and off road performance
With mostly highway driving I'd stick with the 33's. 35's would only give you an additional inch of clearance anyway.
I haven't run the toyo's so I'm not much help there. If you don't like road noise take a look at the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. On my last vehicle I went from the Bridgestone Dualer revo to the silent armor and the road noise was like night and day. The Silent Armors are very quiet. I only ran them a few times offroad before I traded the truck in but they seemed to do weel offroad too. I'm still running the stock tires Bridgestone 285/75R-16 and they did fine on Fines and Things last weekend. We didn't even air down. So you don't have to be in a hurry to get rid of the stock tires. I'm at 20k miles. |

Got a new set of BFG ATs (33") They're a lot better than the stockers, much more robustly built, and grip a lot better offroad and in the snot. On road, they handle well. |

Re: Best tire for on and off road performance
Yea those 33 toyo open country tires look like the way to go for me. The give the truck a much more aggresive look, and im sure they help off road a bunch.

Troll (Internet)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Internet troll) Jump to: navigation, search For an essay about trolls on Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Troll. In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding. // Etymology The contemporary use of the term first appeared on Usenet groups in the late 1980s. It is widely thought to be a truncation of the phrase trolling for suckers, itself derived from the sport fishing technique of trolling. The latter can be compared with trawling. Another plausible derivation is that it may be a shortening of "patrolling", with the common meaning of "searching," especially, "searching for those who do not wish to be found." The word likely gained currency because of its apt second meaning, drawn from the trolls portrayed in Scandinavian folklore and children's tales; they are often ugly, obnoxious creatures bent on mischief and wickedness. The image of the troll under the bridge in the "Three Billy Goats Gruff" emphasizes the troll's negative reaction to outsiders intruding on its physical environment, particularly those who intend to graze in its domain without permission. The word occurs also in John Awdeley?s Fraternity of Vagabonds (1561) to characterize the first four of twenty-five types of disobedient male servants or "knaves." Trolling in the 1990s One early reference to troll found in the Google Usenet archive was by user "Mark Miller", directed toward the user "Tad", on February 8, 1990.[2] However, it is unclear if this instance represents a usage of "troll" as it is known today, or if it was simply a chance choice of epithet: You are so far beyond being able to understand anything anyone here says that this is just converging on uselessness. The really sad part is that you really believe that you're winning. You are a shocking waste of natural resources ? kindly re-integrate yourself into the food-chain. Just go die in your sleep you mindless flatulent troll. The more likely derivation can be found in the phrase "trolling for newbies", popularized in the early 1990s in the Usenet group, alt.folklore.urban. Commonly, what is meant is a relatively gentle inside joke by veteran users, presenting questions or topics that had been so overdone; only a new user would respond to them earnestly. For example, a veteran of the group might make a post on the common misconception thatglass flows over time. Long-time readers would both recognize the poster's name and know that the topic had been done to death already, but new subscribers to the group would not "get it" and respond. These types of trolls served as a Shibboleth to identify group insiders. By the late 1990s, alt.folklore.urban had such heavy traffic and participation that trolling of this sort was frowned upon. Others expanded the term to include the practice of playing a seriously misinformed or deluded user, even in newsgroups where one was not a regular; these were often attempts at humor rather than provocation. In such contexts, the noun troll usually referred to an act of trolling, rather than to the author. Recently, the word troll is also frequently used as a synonym for flamebait, even though the two words have distinct meanings. |
