Thoughts on crossbars
 

Just wanted to get the majority op on the OEM cross bars for the H2. I am havving mixed feelings about some I purchased from a guy, however they have several dents and scratches on them. I hate to "half-ass" anything so I put them on, now (after fu*king scratching the roof of the truck due to a bent prong on the rail) I am debating taking them back off and just sending the damn things back to the guy and get a full refund instead of half. Crossbars.. depends on what the rest of the truck looks like. Personally, I wouldn't put anything dented or scratched on my truck. Then again, I only buy from dealers so normally don't have that problem.

What does the rest of your truck look like? Dents and scratches. If it was me I would see the dents everytime I looked at them.

I think you have another issue....did the seller represent the crossbars accurately? If no then I wouldn't compromise now that you have them.

is there any way to orient them so that you wouldnt see the defects? Like someone else said, i'd see it every time i looked at the truck since i would know its there....BUT....would anyone else notice it if they didnt know its there? Probably not unless they were quite tall perhaps?

Is there anywhere online I can order a set from? I have looked but apparently in the wrong places. The new onews are listed for $450 new on ebay for the chrome ones (which are the ones I want).

Just put a Gobi Rack on them and I bet the scratches and dents won't be that noticable...

Good luck either way - if you do get screwed, post all the details of the mope...

Oh believe me, I have been burned online many of times. I have developed an "attitude" when it comes to bad deals. I will not sell the person out nor will I say any names. I don't want to ruin business for the person. I do feel the person will make things right. They seem to be good people.:o

Jamie, I just bought a second set to make two light bars. They just arrived today. You have been pretty active on the board and upgrading to Chrome pieces. What do you have to trade?

I have Desert Sand and can't decide Chrome, Black, or Black Chrome so I have a collection of all. Just got Black Side Steps and Black Wrap around brush guard today as well.

I have $285 in my set and willing to trade for equal value. I can sell but they are used but look awesome.

I would consider a trade. I'm not sure I might have that you would want though. First off, could you guarantee they are in great condition without damage? Secondly, what would we be looking at with shipping? And thirdly, could you get some pics up? Thanks man....Jamie

IT sounds to me like UPS wrecked this deal for you. It would seem (and I'm sure UPS will claim) that this was packaged insufficiently. Those are hard to ship. I have shipped three sets. Two of those sets had the factory foam blocks and box to ship them in so they were OK, the last set, the corners got smashed in because I shipped them in a "custom" box. Even though I made the damn box near bullet proof, UPS still wrecked the deal. DAMN UPS! So, I can relate to what that seller is going through with you.

Now for the best possible thing you can do:

I honestly think you should take the bars off and put a polished stainless GOBI rack up there. ;) That's some serious BLING! :D No rust since it's stainles. It;s polished and looks like chrome!

The rack sits the same height as the factory bars too.

So where the hell were you when I was asking...pleading for a chrome step rails? I already have some, but I do need the drives side one. The one I have has some scratches on it (one again the victim of drop shipping). Would you consider getting rid of one? Oh, and is it scratched...anywhere? I also need the chrome mini grill...got one? As well as a OEM chrome wrap brush guard. Let me know.....Jamie

Trade - What do you have? H2 only. I would like Black parts, black chrome. Trailer Convenience package or the rubber hitch covers and extention. SUT Rubber Mat. Newer floor mats, interior items. Paintable Parts.

Only thing I have to offer as far as that would be the black hood latches, and black hood handles. They are the stock ones though. I have the SUV, so some of my things may differ a little.

Timcgo, is that the stealth rack you are referring to? It sits at the same height as a factory bars? I've never seen one in real life. I just squeeze into my parking garage as it is. If it's no taller than the racks at any point, I might get one.

yep, stealth rack.
Unless you have the tbars cranked up on your truck, it will sit the same height as a stock H2 with the factory crossbars.

now on teh flip side of that, if you have air. susp. make sure it is not engaged. The non-air susp. sit a ttad lower in teh back.

What is the exact height restriction you are dealing with and how do you enter/ exit the garage (flat, downhill, uphill)

Just called the local GMAC dealer to see if they would price match the online price, they said the site had to be a phoney site and that the bars are the same price everywhere. I said ok...and hung up. :fdance:
